look, gearbox had the original models (uncompiled) all they did was add the extra anims. and submodels and coded them in to the mdl... and all the rest of the model stuff...
Milkshape does all of this of course, it has a small price to pay for such a prog. really...

As all of you know, hl2?s source is in the wrong hands ? Sad b**s are making a fortune on news posts and publicity about their ? ?achievement? ? several community members are taking advantage of the situation and exploiting it. Half-Life 2 ? the game that you?ve been waiting for, for over 5 years is being delayed because of this mess.

We should not stand for this ?
So, I propose that we ignore all questions about the stolen code, all released media concerning hl2 and all forum posts that talk about the stolen code and/or links to the hl2 source.

Ignore all posts about hl2?s source and media (unless posted by an official valve spokesman or publisher), All offers of the source on the net or in real life should be reported - if you come across a warez site that?s offering the source ? do not attempt to download it - report it immediately! If you have the illegitimate source code on your computer remove it as of this instant.

This is really pissing me off now...., so from now on if any one tries to get some help with hl2 before it comes out - I?ll have to personally beat them with my computer - it can take a kicking for a good cause.

You know what, this made me think...
Instead of just banning people who got the hl2 source code, try to get as much info from them as possible first - to help valve get ahead of the hackers and end this as soon as possible - I want the game I'll do anything to get it, BUT : if some one on the net or on the street offered me the full hl2 source I?d probably make them bite the curb and forcefully kick them in the back of the head.

vis should not be taking that long ... on average it should only take (at most) 1 hr for a really complex map - thats on a pII class pc or equivalent

if your vis times are that long concider some redesign - like turning complex pipes to func_walls etc...

i feel very strongly about this issue, and i was going to start an HL2 content boycott - but then i realised that i'd be contradicting myself..
do the right thing, report the website or the location of where you got the code, and delete it off your computer

Trigger happy is a good map - its one amp that rendomly generates gruns in various locations - give it a try - its fun - and replayable

Yep, NinjaGrinch is right > Why are you not using Merl's Custom build of ZHLT?

if there is no visible 'hole' on your level that's making the leak, make sure that all point entities are incide the level and not in the void - origin brushes outside maps are also a common culprit and remember : brush based entities do NOT block vis or seal leaks only world brushes do!

it means you had a vis error, so it didn't write the portal file... which rad needs...
and now the game doesent' know what to draw in your level so it tries to draw it in its entirety.

fix the vis error and rad will work normally
post your full compile log so everyone can have a look at what the error is

things like that are coded into the wav header >
for example : the speach wav's have the mouth movements coded into the wav header > you can edit the sound but its a good idea not to create new wavs - rather edit the old ones with the propper headers
like if you wanted a new water running sound > modify the the existing one etc...

its hard to get the speach sounds right,
get goldwave or something

thats because one texture light can be as many as 7 -8 different lights
(up to 16 if -extra is turned on (3point oversampling) )

Lighting is a MASSIVE subject, and because of this, maybe there should be 3 tutorials on light?

the firt beeng very basic - no messing with command line switches etc..
the second : introducing light_environments, light_spot and a few basic params. for hlrad

and finally a complex tut covering lightflags - more advanced command line switches like ambient light in shade etc..
(i'm in way over my head)

The sounds have to be

PCM,11,025 Hz, 8 Bit, Mono - hl won't play them otherwise

I'm not sure about the 8 bit sampling but you can experiment with the
format ...
