alright i dont get the tuts for this one. i am making a brigde/catwalk and the floor and railings are bars. so you can see thru them. also, overhead, there is a big grate which you are supposed to see the sky thru, but it wont work. also, i have a jail and i cant see thru the bars. in steasd of seeing thru all this it is black. whats up?

ps you can direct me to a tutorial that explains it better if you want. i am a noob

i tried it but the floor wont disappear.

i made the floor into func_wall and named it floor. the trigger_auto is set to it. but ut wont work. explain word for word! i am stupid

first i should say i am making a map for a friend as a joke. you spawn and fall and die. this is cs btw

well, the problem is when you spawn, you start falling. i want both sides to stand on something. when the freeze time runs out, i want the floor to disappear and they all fall.

i cant find a tut. to help with this

using the armory entity is much easier i think. that way you can easily put in what you want. but the game_player_equip is better cuz u can equip other stuff too, like pistols. the problem is that whenever i try to use game_player_equip, i always mess it up. i usually end up having the cts ans ts have the same thing. i cant get it right. what i do instead is have the game_player_equip put all but the promary weapon in. then i make armory entities over the player spawns. that way, if you run out of ammo, you can just pick up a new gun. like in aim_akcolt or aim_map
its really all personal preference

well, sorta. i did beat the game already, then went back, put it on the hardest setting, and added cheats, just for fun ;)

i always beat the game first before i add the cheats. i look for easter eggs/secrets

but yes cheating is bad

well, personally, i like it when the lights go out as ur walking through a room. like, when i first played doom III, i almost crapped my pants. it was so scary and it was at night, all dark. walkin around, the lights go out. and 4 demons appear. so, mostly its the lights. but sounds can make it sweet too. i would rather be in the pitch black with no sounds than be in a well lit room with a scary sound. its freaky. but its your map, so w/e. gl tho.

oh, is this for hl?

alright, i set it all up the way i want it. but when specify the team, 1 for ct and 2 for t, i get the guns specified for ct and t for both team. ie: i set m4a1 for cts and i get the m4 and the ak. but the ak is only set for the terrorists. likewise with terrorists, i get the ak and the m4. i am confused and after browning the forums archives i found that i need a trigger_auto in there but i am unsure how to set it up. if someone could help i would be very obliged. thank you.

ok, i know everyone is porbably tired of me. but i got another question. i abandoned my old map for a simpler map. its just an fy_ map, if you play cs you know what it is. deathmatch.

now, i have 32 spawns. 16 on each. with armoury entities above the spawns. now, when i compile, i get the dreaded leak error, but it says the leak is near one of my spawns. i tryed raising the spawns, lowering them.....nothing works. so i have no idea what is happening. i have been up all night doing this and it still wont work.

any help is appreciated.

btw, i am putting it into the map vault its called fy_akcolt

omg. i would start over, but the deadline is in like 3 days. i cant redo all this in that time. all the customization i did. i stayed up all night doing the chairs and computer parts and i still got the problems. even if it wasnt proportioned right, it should still compile. look at rat maps. they dont get compile errors saying, "the chair is way too big" or "the toothbrushes are out of proportion".

i mean wtf is wrong with my stuff? shouldi reinstall hammer, or wtf. i need to know.

ok, yes i know that map was horrific. sry. i changed a lot. even if i dont get it done i can submit the rmf and still win the money. but i would like to compile it.

i shrunk the map x10.....and the humungous cube known as the sky has been resized to just 16 units above the building. i think i will host the new one. even tho THE WHOLE MAP is inside the damn grid hammer is stupid and wont compile it. the updated map should be replaced in 10 minutes time. thanks

know what, i am just gonna host it. i know its completly horrible, but its my second map i have ever made. just look at it and plz help if u want to. just dl it here. this problem just urinates me off so much. i really hate when i am making a map that i like, just for fun, like a deathmatch, and it doesnt even work.

btw, this site owns all. theres so much useful info here and u guys r so helpful. other places just say "go search on google" its good to talk to educated people

i checked the big cube around the map, it is hollowed, and conains no entitiies. but i keep getting the errors about them being outside the world. i also textured it as sky and adjusted the map properties accordingly. btw, that all is not in the map i posted. but still i get the error. maybe my hammer is bjorked....<----pun haha

oh well, any help is much appreciated.

i cant have my map in a box?!

ok.
i have cs 1.5 which i am testing all these on. i also have cs condition zero, which i do not use to test maps.

now, when i setup hammer, i never used valvecs.wad. therefore, it is not in the hammer list of wads.

i am now looking through all my counterstrike folders and i can not find any file called cs.wad. also, i searched my whole HDD for the file, and nothing came up. this is really getting on my nerves...... :confused:

hi!
i am trying to compile my first counterstrike map. although your site is very helpful, i am still having problems. i can compile without any errors, but when i try to run the map in the game, i get the error, "valve/cs.wad not found"

and then the game freezes. i dont know why it does this, but i would relaly like to know how to fix it. thanks
