right click the folder icon (with the zipper on it) and select extract all, It will then give you a choice of where to extract it. select the location provided by the maker of the map, and click the extract button.

err, I dont know if we get to fly helicopters, I imagine so, to rescue people and such.. I think it is very possible to get shot in the Coast Guard. Who do you think stops the illegal drug trade from South America to the US? The Coast Guard! Drug Dealers take their job seriously, and are definately willing to shoot some Americans to get their product to the states.

shite, i forgot, you prolly dont know all of the US Military Branches. You Have the Army Reserve, the Marine Corps, the US Air Force, and the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard is more of a localized military. they patrol the coast of the US, busting druggies, helping people at sea. Have you ever seen the movie "The Perfect Storm" The Coast Guard's job was to try and save he fishermen. That is basically the job of the Coast Guard. Their logo is "The Sheild Of Freedom"

I want to join a branch of the military, and I dont want to get shot, or move too far from home, so I chose to go to the Coast Guard Academy, it is less than an hour from my house, and they only partol the coast. I understand that it isnt 100% that I wont get shot, but it is less of a chance than for a Marine or someone in the Army.

I am currently 17 (October 14th i will be) I go to a Technical High School, I am in my Senior (12th) year, and I am cruisin, it is so easy. Im ranked 4th in my class, and I work for Smith Brother's Insurance doing IT Desktop Support. After High School, I plan on attending the Coast Guard Academy (dont laugh, i dont wanna get shot) for Computer Analysis (maybe some Marine Biology involved). After which i plan to continue with my Desktop Support position, and eventually become Head Network Administrator. I am IC3 Certified, and I plan on being A+ Core Hardware Certified by December. After College, I plan on getting married to my wonderful girlfriend at the age of 26.

I've got things pretty well planned out.

I'm not trying to sound like a mod, but this forum's purpose was for computer building tips for asinth.. if you want to debate/flame windows vs. linus (or any othe OS) start a different forum thread. I'm sure Asinth doesnt care which OS you like more, or what flaws you can find in Windows.

in buyin a computer soon and... Post #140028
I'm sick of these Anti-Windows fanboys.. I have never had a single issue with windows, I've used Linux, but all the configurations just lead to the same performance of Windows.. I agree that Vista is going to suck hard. Get this, before Vista has even been released, tests have found over 40 Critical Security flaws.. like catastrophic.. gg windows.. but on the topic of your computer Asinth. I'd say that an Athlon 64 bit Processor, a Radeon Video Card with 256 MB video memory, at least 1 Gb of RAM (2 Gb is overkill, unless your on AIM, Downloading pr0n, and using a high end graphics program while playing HL2) NIC cards are cheap, any kind will do, as for the MOBO, just get something that can handle the Processor and some decent RAM. Dont be intimidated by building a computer. The only thing that is easy to screw up is applying quicksilver (heatsink Compound) and putting the heat sink on. Be gentle but use force for the heatsink, and apply compound liberally but not too much. If all else fails, read the manuals for all of your parts, they give helpful information, like installation tips, and possible hazards when working with expensive parts. On the subject of a Case; you can turn a boring case into something sweet, with some spray paint, a skillsaw, some plexi-glass, and some fancy modlights, and fans. Oh Oh, make sure to get some fans to put in the case, to help cool your processor, but remember you need intake and exhaust (in and out) otherwise you are just blowing around warm air. Hope I could help ;)

Just another thought on gun violence, if you own a gun, but it isnt for killin stuff, what is it for? Why would someone want to own a gun unless they wanted to end something else's life.. I agree about the military thing.. I think you should have to prove sane mind, and good accuracy to be trusted with a fire arm.. I'm not necessarily saying that every person who has joined the military is right in the head, but at least it would be safer that any average joe owning one.

It is the best out there, unmatchable.. this av started out as a signature for a map I was making called Scout_Atomic, which i quickly scrapped cuz it was one huge room with r_speeds through the roof. but yeah, I have photoshop 7, but I have created my best masterpieces with good ol' paint. ;)

in CS vs. HL Mapping Post #129632
Sorry for my leave of absense, but now im back to argue. Yes there is a way to give/take points away fom someone in CS, you use a game_score entity, and make it triggered when a player passes through a trigger multiple. it is possible to replicate the "player going through a hoop" aspect. i agree withh kas when he said
Which means: mapping for CS is much harder and time-consuming. CS doesnt offer better gameplay; the well designed maps of CS do. There's a difference.
And there are lots of other factors. In counter-strike you depend on the rest of your team. If your team members are bad players, we all know the game isnt much fun. You can end up waiting more time than actually playing.
SP and deathmatch give you freedom. In deathmatch you can use the layout in so many more ways than would be possible with a CS map, in which you end up following the same paths over and over again.
So in the end, CS is harder to map because of its playability, and objective based gameplay. There is no point saying that one game has better gameplay than another, since it depends on the map. Gameplay in crossfire beats most CS maps, for example.
it is all a matter of what you hope to accomplish when mapping, if you want to make a run around blast things away with an rpg, score crazy points kinda gameplay, obviously, go half life. but if yiou want a strategic, planned out gameplay with realistic objective that are versatile, then go CS. OK now go agrue some more..

convo has not ended!! CS offers a very extensive multiplayer team aspect (although tfc utilized teamwork far better(but thats a different thread;D)) mods may be interesting the first time through, or maybe a second time, but they are no match to playing for hours on end on a custom map server. and yes, cs maps DO plop in ur lap, servers will change the map to a custom map unexpectedly, and people will like it. and if you are forgetting, cs also offers AS - assasination maps, and ES - Escape (which sadly, arent utilized enough)

they make em, know people who make em, have people submit em to them. i think it is much easier for a cs mapper to let lots of people know about his map, than for an hl mapper to, since an hl mod isnt just going to plop into your lap. countless times i have been playing on a cs server, and the map changes, and i have to dl a new map, and i enjoy iy very much. the fact that even the n00biest CSers are able to play custom maps so easily, is what contributes to the success of custom CS maps

in CS vs. HL Mapping Post #129491
err, u wait until the server isnt full to dl it. and most people who play in servers with custom maps that frequently play in the server will download the custom map packs, which servers usually request you do before hand anyway. http://snipersnest.jophis.com/index.php this is a very successful CS server i play in occassionally, and they have a 300 something file map pack. 80 % of the maps played on that server are custom. its a 32 person server, and it is usually close to full. that is just proof that CSers arent afraid of custom mappage
