Or, if your map has symmetrical spawns, could you not just rotate the entire map 180 degrees at the start of each round? I've never tried to have switching spawns, so I'm just as curious as you are.

Isn't in Hammer a terrian maker tool?
Only source has one. He could get Nem's terrain generator, a program that you can use to make large terrain quickly, but even then, that's not very good for boulders.

Clipping a cube down is a great way to do it, as long as you understand the rules of clipping. If you just "clip the shit" out of it, of course it's not going to work. You'll end up with a mess of concave surfaces.

If you can't clip properly, my guess is VM is just going to be even more trouble, with the same results.

People are always surprised the first time they have a compile of over an hour. Then they learn that as they go their maps get bigger, better and more detailed, and compile times get longer and longer. For a DM map I've had 16 hours, on a pretty powerful computer.

Cut down times by not using your computer while it is compiling. Once times get up there, you may just want to compile over night. :hammer:

Maybe I will put mine in the vault, but it's not totally ready yet. Some broken items and such. I believe the last version was actually compiled with fast VIS and RAD anyways.

Pure blue shows up black in game. I've had it happen to me as well, and as far as I know, there's nothing you can do about it.

Remake the texture with the blue 0 0 254 and try again.

I often log in from either OS, and it treats theses as two separate computers, meaning I need to log in again every time I switch from one to the other, and then when I switch back as well.

It's not really important, I just think it would be nice.

You got BETTER lighting and BETTER architecture, but not much better.

You need to be really critical of yourself if you're going to keep improving. If these guys hadn't criticized your first shots, you would've just been content with them instead of trying again. It's easier if you can criticize your own work as well, and then try something again and improve it.

Of course, we're here to criticize so I'll point something out, and you can try it again, and it will be better.

Look at a table and chair, and then look at your table and chairs. Do those actually look like a table and chairs?

That's actually a decent looking layout for a map! Some "artistic license" to connect that big room in the front to the hall next to it to get a bit more flow, maybe. The only problem is that it looks awfully small, and there are several dead-ends.

Nothing you couldn't fix and get away with though.
