I have seen a couple mentions of the entity _stripweapon if players of the opposite team enters a spawn area in CS. Is there anything like it for DoD:S?

well the sound issue has been corrected. This is my first work with using a lot of different sounds. I wanted an ambient wind to whistle around a high area of the map. In source they want you to use env_soundscape entity and produce it outside of Hammer. Well i didn't want to be that technical on this map so i used the ambient_generic. Here's where i went wrong a week ago. I thought the program would just play the sound while the player was inside the radius and maxing out in the center of the sphere. I needed to fill in the lforate, lfopitch and lfovol. filled in the numbers and there you have sound.

Well thanks for the input everyone. Great community here at TWHL. See you around. Im sure there will be more Q's from me in the future. As for now, i need to test out this map.

well i got the damage to work..trigger_hurt, tied to the barb wire, it's all good now.

Now for the sound issue...

i still get the warning R1Co but it's all good, the map runs great, 300FPS...i don't think anyone will have a problem when it put it out for all to play on. But it's still a WIP.

Well i have the flags in fine working condition, capping and sounds and all just that wind_gust only plays right at the beginning of each round and that's the last i hear of it. I have it looped also, cause yaknow wind just doens't stop. I could tie it to the flag/or near by entity, right, with a trigger? I'll try that, next.

Also, is there a way to trigger damage from barbed wire?

I"ll check for tuts, just while i was here i thought id ask.

Hey all,

I was trying to set up an ambient sound "wind_gust" at one of my highpoints in my map and i have tried everything to get it to work. I just have run out of tut's to read, which all said basically the same thing.

At the top of this topwer i have i placed an ambient_generic entity, went to properties and filled in name, picked a wav., then set the start volume to about 7 and normal volume at 7. in the flags tab i unchecked all the boxes cause i want it to play the whole time.

I got nothing. Any ideas?

Hey all,

I know there's a tut out there for flying crows for HL2:S but can the crows be placed in a DoD:S map? In Hammer there isn't a npc_crow entity for DoD:S. Is there a way to import that entity from HL2:S?

Or am i S.O.L.

Well hey i guess, I'll reply to my own post here.

The problem was an entity. Prior to placing the "fire" entity the map ran just fine. and after that it didn't. Of course my first thought was maybe the program was currupted of somefin, so i refreshed the SDK content, and that didn't work. So i removed all the stuff i did that night, thankfully it wasn't much, and low and behold it friggin worked. Thanks for the 14 people who at least read my post.

Hey everyone,

I just had a friggin prob. I made a few modifications in my map that im building and i went to run the map and it comes up with this:

a window came up in windows: AppName: hl2.exe AppVer:0.0.0.0
ModName: datacache.dll ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0000b423

Of course i sent an error report but has anyone run into a HL2 crash upon running your maps? All i did was add fire to a gibbed tank and i got nothin. I have removed the fire and it still does it.

Is this a file integrity prob? or something like that?

Need a hand,

Wait a sec,

I read that page a couple times penguin. Is it true to say then about adding a displacment: If a face isn't modified it won't be visible? Only the modified faces of a cube will be visible after the displacement is done. Correct?

I know how to make a displacement. The problem is the rest of the cube is missing after i finish creating it on the face.

Hey everyone,

I just tried to add displacement to a number of block faces and as soon as i started to modify, the rest of the block dissappear. So only the faces that i have selected remain. I can't get the rest of the block back unless i destroy all the texture i made...what is going on here?

This is the first practice map ive done so...I'd like this to work. If it's supposed to be this way fine but if it isn't, i could use a bit of help.

Any ideas?
