in the zhlt.wad there are NULL, HINT and SKIp, what r these used for? i dont think there is anything bout them in the tuts, unless im still groggy and couldnt find them

they have to do something wiht light and r-speeds but i never looked at them :

NULL means the face to which that texture is applied will not be rendered in game, I'm pretty sure.

HINT is used to help VIS along by sorta, doing some of its work for it :)

SKIP... no idea, lol

HINT is used for vis cleanup as 7th said, it forces a vis portal to be created, thus can help to lower r_speeds in an area if used wisely (45 degree cuts).

SKIP is used on all the other faces of the brush used for the above. Only one face should be textured with HINT.

Make sure to texture interior walls with NULL for zany hall of mirrors goodness.

SKIP shall only be use together with HINT.
Do a brush only on one side HINT and rest of side SKIP.
But only if the brush overlaps others brushes.

its automatically used and wad included, therefore i dont see the point in not using it
