Hi. My hammer was working fine. But now I can't compile because it can't open any of my .wad files. I have tried copying and pasting the wad files all over the place to see if they work somewhere else but that didn't work.

So now all of my maps won't compile. Here's my compile log:

Don't have your Half-Life stuff spread across different drives. Always have it all on the same logical drive. Move Hammer, ZHLT, and your maps to the same drive as Steam.

Also, don't use pldecal.wad/tempdecal.wad and cached.wad. You might also want to use -wadautodetect.

Spraypaint.wad is also one to avoid. Name might differ slightly. Also, you're using old versions of the compile tools. ZHLT 3.0 is around, Google for it.

I've had this exact thing happen to me. Make sure your hammer is pointing to the right location for your mod, and your wads are reside/and are used from that mod directory. If say, are making a map for counter-strike, but are pointing to a cstrike.wad from some location other than the conter-strike directory, it will say 'couldn't find wad.' like the error you got.

Also If you use a batch compiler, it will help you through this process. Google Nem's or HLCC compilation controllers.

Oh... Well thank you all very much.

I tried -wadautodetect and it worked the first time. I will now do all of the other things you said.

Thanks so much!
