do doors and windows have to be constructed by making walls around them or is there another way? by doors i also mean door size openings...

That question makes no sense. To make a door all you need is a func_door.

Nope where not frustratng, things like this happens... All you do is right-click the brush and click tie-to-entity. Once there they'll be the drop down box select the func_wall, there just edit the properties as mentioned in the tutorials.

i think.. as far as i can see, is you dont even know how to cut a solid into more parts.. for now (learn better ways later) simply create a door/window sized solid, put it in the middle of your wall, select it and press carve, then delete it.

WOW, this will accelerate things around here, it hasn't even been 2 weeks and i feel i can do anything with mapping, LOL, i know i have alot to learn.
