Yes, not nearly everyone has that.

J3r3my, that's because it's the best, blatantly. I spread EELS and Opera wher'ver I go.

Who needs Opera? Firefox can CSS override too ;) By the way, Fx releases are for pussies, I run beta releases and unnofficial/self-compiled builds all the time. My current scragz render test wr time is 1.3secs using a custom fx build with every extension disabled and the O3 (Optimiser level 3) flag (with plenty of config tweaks of course). Opera at stock does 1.92 for me. Stock Firefox 1.0.2 does 1.83, and 1.0.3 gets 1.94. Oh, also, with the cache cleared, all of the aforementioned browsers perform approximately 0.3 secs better, although I haven't tested the speed difference of disk cache to RAM cache, the latter most ilkely being faster.

CSS override is just another geeky playtoy no one really needs.
Posted 19 years ago2005-04-26 17:04:37 UTC Post #105995
What?

By the way, you'll notice that the window there wasn't maximised? I was hardly gunna post a 1024x768 image pointlessly (or, now, a 1280x1024).

J3r3my, your site is completely illegible. Use very bright on dark, or dark on light.

Opera is just plain ugly IMO and i dont like the name. Firefox just sounds way cooler than something named after a fat lady singing.

OK made the text brighter and changed the font (took your advice ZL)hopefully now its readable. http://half-lifelss.l2p.net/index.htm

Heh, the Opera CEO is swimming to America (from Norway) 'cos they made it to 1,000,000 downloads of Opera 8 in four days (Firefox took five).

So hes gonna swim to his death over that? And thats Opera 8. Firefox was totally new when it came out. And guess which one has 50million downloads? Firefox. Wheres Operas 50 million?
Posted 19 years ago2005-04-27 04:25:29 UTC Post #106065
J3r3my, you're an idiot. :P

You don't like the name, and you condemn it? Have you even TRIED Opera 8? I read something on Opera the other day. It went something along the lines of:

FireFox appeals to the simpleton user, because it presents a very IE type of browsing (with obvious improvements). There are, of course, extensions for FireFox that make it a great browser. However, many users don't even discover these extensions, prefering to stick with the simple version.
Opera, on the other, comes with all the nessecary extensions built-in: in previous versions, it confused the simple user with a multitude of toolbars and the like. Once again, they were either reluctant, or not skilled enough to simple dive in and tweak Opera, which is suprisingly simple to do. Opera 8 has attempted to solve that problem with a cleaner, pre-loaded look.

So J3r3my, I don't understand why you don't like it's "look": it can so easily be changed. How about you try it and see instead of condeming it for pointless reasons? ;)

I would disagree. Firefox is very different from IE. It has a much cleaner interface, considerably faster and safer. Simpleton? What a fucking lame word to use. The features and capabilities of Firefox are far more advanced than IE. Just Opera trying to bash Firefox anyway it can. How lame. Sounds a lot like politics to me. Firefox was designed to be user-friendly but underneath all that it has some very advanced features. So dont just go along with all that proganda Opera spits out.

Countdown to fifty million downloads

Ah, take a look at this
The feed works very smoothly in Firefox. There are known problems with Opera -- we're working to correct these.
Seems Opera aint perfect :P

No, Firefox does look, from the start, hugely like IE. Of course, all browsers look fairly similar, but Firefox especially, I must say. Hrny, J3r3my, are you actually going to make any constructive posts for/against either browser?

The IE style is very very clean, and minimal, it's just that the browser sucks. Firefox takes IE's already simple interface and adds an amazing browser underneath the interface. It doesn't need tons of features to be great, although if you want you can turn it into bloatware by adding 1000s of extensions, which there are plenty of.

The back link on page: "Links" leads back to the framesite, so a new framepage opens in the main frame, you should target it to the whole page, or just make a link to the startpage.
