i have a map with a house on it and several different lights and buttons and such. i was wondering if there was a way i could have a 'master circuit breaker' that would turn all the lights OFF. is there a way i could set a trigger state OFF rather than TOGGLE them all? any help is greatly appreciated. also let me know if i need to explain this better.

Trigger relay can set things off you should trigger a trigger relay that targets the light or every thing eles that uses elicricity. ;)

Well, to make sure the light won't be lighted again you can put in buttons master value the name of a multiscorce. That multi scorce will be triggered when the level starts for we want it to start on.When the multi source is on you can use the lightswiches and when it's off you can't use them! I checked this and it works ;) but the only problem is that when you try to use the buton while his master is off that he wont move or his texture wont change. :| I have Found another way to do it and it works better. Just use a trigger changetarget and change the buttons target to nothing. Then you will be able to press the button and it will move/his texture will change but he wont open the lights.

hmm, i tried that but i must be doing something wrong still. i could only target one light in the trigger_relay. i tried the SmartEdit thing, but it would still only keep one target value. do you know what im doing wrong? and i appreciate your help!

Trigger relay can't target more then one target but the multi manger can. Use a multi manger to target multiplay trigger relays that each one of them targets one light entity.

awesome, its working now. thanks for all your help Elon! :D i noticed that i had to add twice as many targets into the multi_manager as i had lights. like, if i have four lights, i have to enter 8 targets (4 trigger_relays, 4 trigger_changetargets) in the multi_manager. is there a better way? would it slow the map or anything down in any way? and lastly, is there a limit on how many objects a multi_manager can target?

Yes, there is, and I think it might be 16.

To overcome this problem I think you can target with a multi manager another
multi manager so each multi manager targets less objects. ;)

hmmm, i tried everything on a sample map and it works right the first round. but after that, the lights are still off, and the buttons still dont work. how do i fix that?

Well, Make that the light swich also targets a targets a trigger changetarget that in it's the new target is a multi manager that targets trigger relays that their trigger state is on, Those trigger relays will target the lights. The multi manager also targets the trigger changetargets that will cange the buttons target back to there original target. The multi manager will also target a trigger changetarget that changes the target value of the light swich to the original value.

ummm, that confuses me. : could you explain to me again? lol
Posted 18 years ago2005-05-15 11:09:29 UTC Post #109558
Just make a trigger_changetarget that targets the power switch and changes it's target to a name of another multi manager. The other Multi manager targets a set of trigger_realys ,that will set the lights on, and a set of trigger_changetarget , that change the buttons target to the originl one. This multi_manager also targets a trigger_changetarget that changes the power switch's target to the original one.

I think thats the clearst way to tell you how to do it. :D

Doesn't cs have all the hl1 entity+other entitys if it is so just open it with cs and save as it with another name only then compile the new map(with cs configurations of course)! ;)
