Is any entity out in the void?
Posted 18 years ago2005-06-20 13:54:57 UTC Post #115637
You have a brush with a complaner plane and a brush outside the world(Out side the area that you can build things in it) You will find an explanation somewhere in here- http://www.slackiller.com/tommy14/errors.htm -they are the first in the brush section! ;)

Tommy's page is really outdated, Leak-Free is much more recent, and Tommy assisted in making it. (I designed the leet gfx for the forumz too~)

Invalid Solid for you, mr. mustang67. Alt-P and see if anything pops up.

That's great, I always thought that Tommy's page was nigh impossible to browse

no entities are outside the world. this map is only to test somthing but there is a, ehhh......sky box : and there arent any leaks

Ok... go like this:

With your map open, click Map, Go To Brush Number

Then for each one of your entitys... delete the brush.

like this...

Entity 0, Brush 122: A 'Unknown Class' @(0,0,0) has a coplanar plane at

So type in the Entity 0
And type 122 in the brush spot.

Then press ok to highlight it and then delete it. Do it to each one of those that are in your compile log.

ive had troubles with sky boxes recently, whenever you look at it it can cause an error for some unknown reason. Wierd, could be one of the reasons :)

The problem is that the invalid solids stretch out to infinity, so their planes become outside of the world.

Chack if there is any brush in the range of 64 units from the eaged of the grid!
Posted 18 years ago2005-06-20 19:55:05 UTC Post #115773
Yes they would be lost but it's better than losing the whole map.

the whole map......deleting all the brushes that "outside of the world" as the compile log says then i will end up deleting the whole map. : :(

I know what happened, this appenned to me. Did you get an "invalid structure" error when you tested for problems? If you fixed it part of the fixed structure has been thrown outside the world, or the mapping grid making it impossible to retreive without deleting the structure itself.

theres no invalad structures...one of the errored brushes was even a box that was not altered in any way :

Did it have an error in the problems check?

I've found the problem. It seems you've tried to create a cylinder with 8 faces, on a small brush with measures about 4 units, by 4 units.. Since the brush was very small, it was unable to create a cylinder causing trouble. As you can see in the snapshot it appears to have more faces. (2 faces per side.) This accident can happen very easy, especially, when you use the cylinder tool, then go to make a sqaure brush, but for get to change the option back.

By the way, I'm extremely impressed with the tank, it's unreal! :P

So ya try that, and tell me if that solved your problem!
