What is the origin texture, and how do you use it?

the origin texture is just that, a texture named origin. you need a block textured with it to mark the center of things like trains and rotating doors, and generally stuff that spins, moves, or the like.

dont forget when you make your rotating thing that you select BOTH the door/rotator AND the origin brush. the center of the origin brush is the rotating point of the door/rotating thing

You know you really don't know how to explain stuff! An origin brush is a brush textured with the origin texture and tied togther with a rotating solid entity! The origin brush is the place that the object will rotate around it so it doesn't have to in the center! ;) The only entity that doesn't rotate but still needs an origin is func_train! :D

Func_tracktrain too... :|

But it does rotate! And also func_train can rotate but it still needs an origin if it doesn't! ;)

A func_train only needs an origin if you use angular velocity on it.

Also if the Origin textured Brush is not tied to an entity (door_rot, func_train) then it will cause a compile error. ;)

No muzzle I tried with out and strange things heppened because of that! :tired: Like the train leaving the textures behind, moves in a strange path that was never it's and hurting the player when it's not sepposed to!

I like to think of an origin brush as an invisible hinge for doors. In hammer, pay close attention to the X in the middle of a brush.

Elen, thats sounds very familiar to me. Does the train suddenly stops at a place where no path_corner is placed, but its "spirit" is still moving, you can stand on it, but the actual visible func_train doesn't move and has turned completely non solid (fall through)?
