I've included opfor's plant model and marlborometal's key model in my map. I placed them in Valve/models/my_models does that mean that you have to place them in the same directory(probebly not) or anywhere else in valve/models?(I just wanna make sure) :|

How do you make the vis run on full mode? : (Full-Vis) And my compile takes two hours so should I do it or not for it will fix some problems! :nervous:

Use a full compile when you are done with the map. About the plant model, it would be much better if you made a minimod folder for all the custom content, so judges wont remember your entry by how many files they had to manually place in countless folders ;)

I always make the mini mod folder at the end. Just make your map.. then when it comes time make all the folders (the minimod) and try running it, if you get an error, like a missing ambient file, or model, then just go and copy them in until it works.. I find it alot easier. Yet it's the lazy way :nervous:

I don't feel like configuring Hammer for another mod.. maybe i should though, It would be a great idea to name the new configuration Competitions

Elon, if you are not going to make the map in minimod format, then you should at least place your files in existing folders, like:
valve/sound/ambience
valve/sprites/
valve/models etc. so everybody that tries your map doesnt need to create new folders. But making a minimod is quite easy. My compo entry was a minimod.

A minimod is something which appears in the Third-Party Games section of the Steam Games menu, or, in WON HL, the Custom Games menu. The basic set-up is the same; what works for WON HL will work on Steam (although the custom menu stuff doesn't work any more, sadly).

I had planned, and drawn out what I was going to map (a sci-fi Mr Burns style office with an opening floor which brings a large executive table with various scientists on it from the floor below, and a trapdoor opening button on the big desk) but alas, like everything else in TWHL I'll probably fail to finish it in time, since I've other stuff to attend to. So far all I've got is a door and a .wav file that says "breen" in the VOX voice (spliced from BREached.wav and seventEEN.wav). Oh well...

While you guys have been jabbering away in here about your entries I would just like to say Straightens self out ...ahem...

1) I've completed my entry

2) I designed the whole thing at work :P (nothing is getting in the way this time)

3) I created the level while setting up a new hardrive including ripping the one with my HL folder out of my pc, formatting and reinstalling (like i said, NOTHING GETS IN THE WAY!)

I'm making the minimod know and I have a little quastion! I wont need to change anything in the map if I'll move the models to mymod/models directory,Right? Could stay like this- models/model.mdl :nervous: And if I'll put sounds in mymod/sounds/player with the same name of ones that are in valve/sounds/player,will they replace the the regular sounds when I'm playing my minimod?

Elon, after creating the minimod, compile the map again (with a new game configuration, of course) and check if everything works.
A wav file with a defined path of valve/sounds/ will not work if you have that file in mymod/sounds. Just move the sounds and change the paths.

Edit:same goes for models, etc

Submit it even if it's unfinished. I did that, added a "TO BE CONTINUED" game_text and won the gold trophie :o
You might not get gold if it's unfinished, but other people may have your problem too. You still have chances, think about it :cyclops:

Ok, will do, I'll just limit the mansion inside to the master bedroom, the main entryway, and hallways with closed doors. It'll still be playable, only you won't have to find the hidden entrance to the train, you'll just go there.. :nuts: Sounds good then, so whens it due, tomorrow when?
