Ok, im not exactly sure what im doing, but my halflife map won't even be bothered to load when I try to create a server with it as the map.

After I select my map and start creating the server, there are no dialogs, no warnings, (haven't checked console?), I just get returned to the main screen.

Does info_player_start just say where to spawn players, regardless of what mode?

I had Info_player_start_deathmatch instead

Ok, I changed the entities to info_player_start, and the game still won't let me create it. What's up with this?

erm, oook... It seems that the compiler is writing a map named after my email address...
Posted 20 years ago2004-01-19 21:50:58 UTC Post #12919
Ok, so far, it looks as if you are not using MHLT, a modified version of Zoner's Half-Life Tools ["ZHLT"] (click the orange link to get it). You NEED to use ZHLT or MHLT. Also, it looks like there is a space in the name of the map, you can't do that, underscores are ok. And also, I dont know if your running it through steam correctly or not (never compiled into steam before). Well, that's my input.

you need to rename your map

hafllife will not start a map with a space in its name... the engine thinks it is an invalid parameter and thus returns u to the main screen

rename it to crappy_mappy.bsp and i bet it'll start right up...

-Chippy

Also try to reduce the amount of characters in the name, it is not essential... but it is good practice.(Trycrapmap)(ed:Andy)
