How to install prefabs? can anyone tell me?

to install prefrabs just right click on the object you want to make into a prefrab and select 'create prefrab' done! :)

If they're .ol files, put them in Hammerprefabs, or if they're RMFs... copy and paste?

The real question is why you'd bother.

Be careful with prefabs, Dj XtC. A lot of them have hidden problems (invalid polygons, texture errors, embedded lights, etc.) that can be very hard to trace. That includes some of the prefabs Valve supplies with Hammer!

Suggestion: if you download a prefab and put it in your map, compile immediately to see if there're any problems.

If you have an object you made (like a streetlamp) that you want to use several times in your map, group the pieces of the object, select it, ctrl-c to copy it, ctrl-v to insert a copy in your map. Repeat as needed.

If they are plain white in Hammer that means they are untextured.

I don't use the prefab tool, if I got an assortment of vehicles, I'd just put all those vehicles in one rmf/map file, and name the map 'vehicles', then when it comes time to use one of the vehicles, I just open the
vehicles.rmf and copy the car/truck, and paste it into my map. ;)

If they are plain white in Hammer that means they are untextured.
It usually means that they're textured with a WAD file that you haven't listed in the Options.
