if you want to start VERY basic... just choose the wall that you want to put the door in, create a rectangular brush that is wide enough to go all the way through the wall. Place it in the wall, right click and press carve note carving is bad and you should get out of the habbit once ur more comfortable with hammer
Now, fit the door so its a bit thinner, right click, press 'Tie To Entity' then choose func_door. Choose the direction you want it to go in and viola

It might be nice to know that walls never have to be 1 brush. You can use as many brushes as you want for a wall (though keeping it simple might be good once your maps get larger). So, for a doorframe, just create a wall from 3 brushes, one on the left of the doorframe, one on the right and one on top of the doorframe.

You can copy brushes quickly by moving them and holding the Shift key down. That should speed up the whole process quite a bit.

You can't expect help without giving information.

So... what error did you get?

You adjust Yaw.
Just select, which way you want your door to open in the Top view and select that direction in the Yaw compass. :)

are you sure you haven't selected use only flag?

And are you doing this door to be controlled by a button?

try jumping at the door.. if ur second room is maybe lower than your first, it could make the door too high
