ok this was the name of one of my maps that never got finished i just felt like turning it into a mod so what i was thinking was get some people who are willing to help me on this.
I've got a basic story for it that can be changed,you are a scientist in the very high secured labs and when hell breaks loose you along with many other scientists are stuck. all the doors were shutting to get out, the power for the protection (the high tech guns) had been tured off at some parts and aliens and some troopers were getting in some how and it is your job to get out alive (of course).
I have started on it a little bit but not much and it would be great if i could get a team of 5 or 6 people :)

Ive got some ideas for the 1st 3 chapters ok in the first one walk around the labs have a look around and all that and i will think up somthing that you have to goto like a test or somthing
Chapter 2 is when everything goes wrong and you go looking for an exit around the labs you work in
and chapter 3 when you find the closest thing to an exit a hatch to a lower level and then you see whats happend down there
if you don't like it just shoot some ideas and ill could change it.

Ive got some ideas for the 1st 3 chapters
those ideas sound a little hl1-ish. you start by wandering around the lab, do a test on some thing, everything goes wrong, and you try to get out. If I can think of anything better, i'll post it.
But I can help you with
--mapping (some) and map testing

& if I manage to learn C anytime soon, I may be able to do some coding.

Ansith, you should put that in your mod if you find someone to do coding! maybe, make it a user-selectable option

Don't take this personally, Ansith, but the idea is quite... HL-ish. Default. In other words: Not original. You should really whoop up something prety awesome if you want people to play it. The whole "disaster" thing is too much like Half-Life. Try making something that would make the mod stand out of the crowd... :

Of course I'm not saying that this mod shouldn't be done. And good luck on accomplishing that.

How about this:

You are a scientist assigned to work in this top-secret lab, where there are experiments going on with teleportation... stuff like that. You get there only to find that all of the scientists are dead or in hiding, and the military has tried to do a cleanup but failed miserably, and you're the last hope to do the cleanup. It's like post-disaster hl1, I know, but it's a little different, keeping with your lab theme, and it's the best I can come up with using the original hl1 models and such. If you can get someone to do custom models, voices, stuff like that, you could do anything, really. And I looked at some C related stuff, and if I can learn C (I already know some pascal, jscript...) then I might be able to do some coding! Just let me know what you think of this idea.

I looked at some c stuff, it's a lot like jscript as far as syntax, so if anyone can tell me how to get the source, i'll look at it and try to find out how to modify it.

The SDK can be downloaded here as the old link on the VERC seems to give problems.

Anyway, knowing a little C is fine for little adjustments like changing HUD colors and positions and other small changes, but adding new monsters gets harder. Some basic understanding of classes and inheritance would be good if you're planning to do anything more complex.

Also, I'd recommend looking at what changes you want to make to the game before 'doing some coding'. It's no fun to throw away big plans when you find out certain things are too difficult to handle half-way down a project.

well, right now, anything I do will simply be to learn how to code in C. I'm a die-hard QB fan, but I've been wanting to learn C for a while. Anyway, I know that it will be a while before i'm capable of doing any major modifications, but a little change in the hud could be nice. Thanks for the suggestions.

yeah, just look at what so many people have done with no more than the original half-life models, sounds, and textures! But when I can, i'll dl the sdk and see what (if anything) I can do. And I do custom textures/wads/decals...

Try making it with out the photo for with the photo everybody can. :P You need to be good with photoshop/gimp to make textures! :glad:

wtf? "the tutorial"? You mean the tutorial on making textures? yes, i've read that, and I do know how to make textures, and compile a map using a custom wad file, because i've done it (not in any of my posted maps, I don't think.)
