I'm working on a hollow torus but finding it rather difficult, was wondering if anyone knew of any good tutorials anywhere?
Tried Google but no luck.

Grr @ round things!

duedadudeduade

make a torus and build brushes around them. or make a hollow pipe and make it cricle a bit using the make-bends-in-pipes-method- witch you should know :P

or if its for source go fool aroudn with displacement maps

make-bends-in-pipes-method? what's that? I've tried to do stuff like that (for train tunnels, mostly) and never have beenable to get it to work.

It is rather difficult and time-consuming. No real easy way as they require a lot of vertex manipulation to aboid non-planar faces and other errors.

I'd say, if it's not really necessary for your map, forget it if you're running low on time, or try modelling it instead, if you can model.

I do believe that option is only available in Source mapping.

I have never heard of a "make-bends-in-pipes-method"?

I may have gone down a different route now, it just doesn't look as pretty as I wanted it too :( stupid HL1 engine!

well, like captain p said, it just takes a lot of vm.

Make one as an example map for me? Maybe, possibly, please?

Use the arch tool! I can make an example on it! :glad:

@evilsod_2k: Does it have to appear as a torus on the outside too?
Posted 18 years ago2005-10-11 14:30:15 UTC Post #140905
Not really... don't let this worry you too much now, got a nice shape down using VM.
Thanks alot everyone!

If he wants it to be a torus on the outside then you must use the arch tool. :tired:

Edit:

Whoops

You'll get to see it in my compo entry! Wouldn't want anyone getting ideas from it!
