Well, I made a rotating door in Hammer all by myself, although it was a terrible way and I forgot to use the origin brush dealie, so the door rotated around its centre. One thing though, the textures in HL2 show the door frame and hinges and stuff as well. It looks kinda strange having the whole door + hinges + frame rotating, any way around this? :

you use models for doors in source. dont ask how though, i just use the ol' func_door with a metal texture :)

at a guess, place the door model, attach it to some phys_hinges and put them in the door frame.. at a guess

If my brain is correct you use a prop_door_rotating and you have to choose the door model you want.

Making a modelbased door can also be very messy, sometimes the gird in hammer ?sn't small or big enough to support the door sisez, so you can't make a hole big or small enough for the door, wich is very annoying.
But Habboi is right, prop_door_rotating is what you need, and if you use these hing versions, it will just,, hang around. :P

Doors always fit perfectly in their frames. Always, up to the nanometer. Oh, they don't? Nevermind then...

In other words, why care about a few lousy units if it's even natural? Plus, how often will a player notice the difference, anyway? ;)

Back to the question, I'd say, check out this tutorial. No need for origin brushes anymore.
As for the texturing, it may be a bit messy but you can give it a different offset and such using the texture application. I assume you are familiar with that tool?

Yes, I gave it the right offsets and stuff, but it just wasn't right without the hinges and door frame. Maybe I'm using too antique a method. I never tried the prop_Door_rotating, I just attached a brush to func_door_rotating. I'll check out that tutorial too, thanks.

EDIT: Checked out the tutorial, brilliant! Just what I needed. :)
