Hi. I read all the tutorials on making a sky. They all said to get the sky texture, but I don't have a sky texture in the textures window. Does anyone know where it might be or where to get it?

halflife.wad -> SKY

Try the texture filter in hammer to find it.

The SKY texture is just a texture for the engine to understand that there will be sky there.

Theres a tutorial on sky making...
"Adding skies", if I recall it right..
Search the tuts and if you don't find your answer, ask it in the forums.. :)

For some reason, I don't have halflife.wad...is it in the valve folder? I can't find it. I have halflife.fgd....does that matter?

Are you looking in Steam HL, or WON HL?
I recommend WON HL. If there is no halflife.wad there, your installation is either corrupt. Try reinstalling.
Are there any other wad files in the valve folder?

I'm looking in the Steam HL, what is WON? And yes there are other .wads in my valve folder.

WON Hl is without steam. So I'm not the only one who think WON is better... :)

Ok, I reinstalled Steam, but I saved the maps, models, sprites, sounds, and wads. Is that ok?

Of course. Keep them out of the game directories, though.

Its much easier to map for non Steam HL. Path wise...

Yep. In regular Hl valve is in the half-life folder and with steam it's in half-life/steam/steam_apps... :tired:

Ok, I read the tutorial, but it didn't help me at all lol. I really need the halflife.wad, i can't do anything untill I have it.

You have half-life.wad. You can play half-life, right? Then you have it. It's in the Half-life.gcf file in your steamapps dir. Use Nem's GcfScape (google) to extract it to be able to map with it.

You did obviously not read the TWHL mapping-for-Steam tutorial.
