how can i make Unbreakable glass that you cant shoot through?

i'm brand new to making maps and i was just messing around with my test map and i wanted the T an CTs to spawn right next to eachother in opposite rooms with a window in between..

Func_wall is the answer.
Try this tutorial:
Glass

thats what i'm doing ....it wont break but the bullets still go through the glass

Have u set the render mode to 'texture'?

CS has a problem with allowing bulltes through various materials and wall thickness's. There are a few fixes, but I have found that most of them only work in a specific orientation of the grid.
Try two pieces of glass seperated by a unit.

Also, Try the search tool on this site to search the forums... I think someone has answered this.

If you dont want to bullets to go through, I think it has to be really thick.

Buy a DEAGLE and shoot through it :P thats what i would do or get a nade and blow them out :D. Or make the wall extremely thin(like 1 square) and most guns can shoot throgh it (M4, SMG, HMG,etc) im talking about CS

It doesnt matter how thick a wall is, the bullet always travels through if its in the same vis area. You have to double wall as mentioned above, if the null texture is put in the middle noone will notice either.

yeah the double wall with a unit in between worked fine...thanks :)

wait nevermind didn't work more powerful guns still penetrate....

i didn't try the null texture thing yet....

they must've changed how cs works if double wall doesnt work anymore, If I actually had CS I'd experiement, but I haven't, or steam for that matter

I did experiment.
Double walls work some times, but with high powered weapons they don't (well not always). The Null texture works sometimes, but once again not always.
I did find that it had something to do with the direction the wall was facing on the grid. I top view if the wall was vertical on your screen, bullets wouldn't penetrate, but if it was horizontal they would? No idea how that translates. And then there is the question of material physics. depends what the wall is textured with.
At the end of the day.... it is CS. Need I say more? And this info isn't taking into account the EVIL steam thingy....

is there anything i can put in between the two pieces of glass the cant be penetrated and that is 100% transparent?

can i just make a normal brush transparent..without tieing an entity to it?

i really want this to work it looks cool...you can see the other team spawn and little bubbles go up like it's water in there....

this really was a shit... to do a unbreakable/unshotable wall i have to use an specific texture, in this case cstrike_me4dcln wich is a metal..
so depends on the texture you have used and the material type of it on materials.txt .. (dont have sure is on this file, but work)

im goone make it a glass, but im not sure will look as a good one...

texture: cstrike_me4dcln
thin: 16 pixel at least to work fine
dont need to be an entity
more tests:

this only works with brushes, not with entities... so no way to do a glass until now..

you could try sandwitching two layers of brushes the are made of the null brush in between the two glass brushes. you don't have to entityise the null brushes, there invisible anyway. but just make sure everything is separated by 1 unit

And I once chose in the material type value the unbreakable glass and the glass couldn't be broken even if it's stengh was one and the instent crowbar flag was chacked! :

I'm no CS mapper, you know that!

yes, but im just saying that this is a CS question and that in previous posts the simple method you said didnt work. Thats all

Although, i would like to map for CS but i prefer HL and spirit

Anyway, this is a rather old thread. Kiss it good-bye.
