I fear pointy objects pointing towards me. I always have visions of them taking flight into my eye or sumthing. It just makes my eye feel weird, too.
Hey, I feel the same, when i look at cactuses with very sharp thorns... Weird... I don't have too much fears... Let me think... Perhaps a slight fear of height, especially when i stand in some balcony or look thru a window that i high up, I feel like I'm gonna fall... I dunno.. Nothin more, i guess :)

Spiders have never scared me. Once this huge house spider (which had a 10cm diameter with legs out) crawled across my living room, and I picked it up, and put it in the loft (there's loadsa spiders there for it to befriend). I don't mind seeing real gore, but particular types (like intestines spilling) makes me freak. I can watch it, but after a few minutes I start to feel like my abdomen is exploding, or something. And it makes me feel sick, but, yeah, I generally don't get ill from looking at gore. Although, one thing I get scared of is powerful wind. A tree almost fell on me once in a gale-force winds. Scary stuff.

My brother and I fed ants to a garden spider and that spider got huge from all the ants.

Most spiders' bites are harmless to humans, unless you're alergic. In this case even the smallest of spiders is going to cause the flesh around the bite to start necroting until it just falls off and continues to spread. I think there's no cure for this other than constant tissue transplantations and inhaling pure oxigen in a pressurized chamber.

Now I remembered that I also fear huge machinery that's about to crush me. Two weeks ago I had an observation class at the concrete panel factory and that place was scary. In the first great hall there were two huge telphers (rail crains just under the ceiling) carying steel fixtures around at high speed and low altitude. They could travel over 90% of the hall's area so no place was safe.
The second hall contained 4 telphers but this time they were bigger and slower but more scary, since this was the place were they put the liquid concrete into forms ready for thermic procedures. One false step and you're in deep shit, erm, concrete.
And last, we visited the concrete mixing tower - at the top you can see how it's prepared - 1.5 meters below your feet hot water is mixed with te powdered cement and two huge blades mix them up into fine liquid concrete. No need to mention there were no safety railings.

Precisely. In fact, the only thing that held me not to run away screaming was that the place was so great for a map! I'm planning to go and visit it once more, but this time with a camera in hand.

Another scary place is my mom's working place. It's a substation, delivering power from the 3 major power plants in the area to the whole country and outside. It's called "Substation West" and the looks of it will make chills go down your spline.

The journey starts with a fairly normal road going out of my home town. The first thing that makes the difirence is the abandoned plaster factory just at the end of town (great place to capture one of those action movies). The trip lasts about 30 minutes by car and the road seems almost deserted for most of it but you'll surely notice the large sign (2x3 meters, large red letter on white background) saying "WARNING! Region with increased concentration of road accidents!" It sits there in 3 languages so no miserable fool misses it (but some still do - for te last month I was there twice and both times there were crashes along the way).

Next comes the town of "Troyanovo" (it comes from Troya, the local version of Troy) - just a normal town with houses and 4-storey blocks. The only thing wrong is that those blocks are abandoned. As well as most of the houses. In fact if you're not local and you see this place you'll probably mistake it for the aftermath of a nuclear meltdown (no nuclear power plants in a radius of 400km but with it's 2 coal pits and 3 power plants the region has the highest respiratory cancer value of the entire country).

Things are getting better now - after a while the raod goes a little higher and you can see one of the two large collieries. It looks great at night with all these lights and the massive excavators.

Following the great view is the old machinery park of the "Repair Depot West". Abandoned trucks, cranes, bulldozers and train wagons lay around just as if they were left the way they were dumped - in absolute disorder. The machinery park streches for about 2km along the road.

Here we are - the constant low-pitch noise cannot be mistaken as you can hear it from far away. Two 5 meter deep pits are marking the unoficial (backdoor) entrance of the building (mother said they're preparing to install new portals, but from her explanation it seemed like these portals have nothing to do with gates). "Don't get close to these coils son, you'll get electrocuted", she said. The markings on the machinery was 20KW wich is really much. In fact if you get within 2 meters range from it a voltaic arc is going to shake you up a bit (98% death chance).

The control rooms was nothing special: 10x10 meters room, covered from side to side with switches, buttons, measuring equipment and warning signs. The dispatchers on duty even showed me how to cut the electricity going to Turkey. But, ofcourse, didn't allowed to touch anything.

Photos, sure, but I don't know when will I be allowed to go there. There are several watchposts with barriers and you can only pass with a car and a pass and only if you're going to work or to pick someone from inside... And since there is a free bus for the workers it doesn't happen very often to go and get mom. And I'm not sure how cameras are tolerated... Maybe I could find some photos online.

I also forgot to tell you I'm afraid of poisonous chemicals on the loose. About half a kilometer from my flat (I can see it know trough the window)there's the "Central Repair Base" (or CRB, as everyone here calls it). That's it's old name, now it's something else. There are many things on it's teritorry (it's huge, something like 2x4 kilometers, if you count the train depot), some with unknown purpouse. Like the two huge liquid oxygen tanks you can clearly see behind the high concrete wall. I don't think they build rockets, but there sure is a chemical laboratory in there, since we found a small pond (20x15meters) filled with some wired liquid. Not sure what it was, but it was light blue. And not like whater, but like the sky in a very clear day (almost as if you screwed the map and the sky could be seen bellow the hole). It appeared solid and shallow but swimming empty bottles broke the illusion and it sure was deep, because you could see the slope goign down.

PS: hlcore.uni.cc, eh? Last time I was allowed to host there was the time of the Project...

Mercury is silver-metalic you fool. The smell had traces of chlorine and maybe suflur (there was a girl with me back then and girls can recognize over 500 more smells than males, so don't question my results ;) ). We planned going again, but this time with equipment, so that we can take some probes with us and examine them later. And, by the way, scorpions are cool and I don't see any logical reason to fear them.

ooooh.... interesting topic, which has probably faded out into a spam thread. But let me (topicallly) add to it.

My worst fear isn't dying, or getting maimed into a vegetable or anything like that. My fear is something like experiencing someone completely innocent getting completely messed over in unconventional ways.

Example: I saw an anime once with a plant that was poisonous and carnivorous. It killed a pretty hot looking girl (anime, need i say : ) and the plant knocked her out with poison gas, ate her then inside the plant, she woke up just in time to get dissolved and burnt to death by digestive acids. Then, her soal was trapped inside the plant, even though she was a sweet and nice person, she was doomed to be alone in darkness. If the plant dies, her soal is lost permanently. I have rather creepy dreams about this happening to my girlfriend... Stuff like this really bothers me.

However, on a more personal account, one of my greatest friends in my history worries me. it goes down like so.

This girl at school had a crush on me for over 6 months. I wasn't single and she feels she can't compete with her. But we were great friends and even my girlfriend likes her. (almost 2 girlfriends... 0wn4ge!) However, she tells me that she is the only girl in her lineage for over 7 generations, and since the children of each generation has been male, it was a high tradition to serve in the german military. Yeah, her grandfather IS a really nasty nazi that still hates jews. But she was born in the U.S. with her parents, buther grandfather hates her, so the grandfather orders her parents to him so he can force her into the german military. She's getting her american citizenship abolished, she's gonna relearn german, and learn russian and japanese. She wanted to go to an art school in america! every dream she had of being a media artist is destroyed and she has two choices: Live the hell, or suicide. She's seriously considering suicide now, i tell her to last it out but she's so panicked by her misery. This enrages me to no end, i can't believe how evil people can be. I want to go up to her grandfather and bust him in his fuckin lips... but i can't do SHIT! This is a living fear for me. I know if she takes her own life, she'd either become enghostic, or go to hell, and she'll be lost forever. I asked a rather special friend of mine to watch over her. It was tough, but i convinced him to change his focus off of me and onto her. Besides, i have several people I know watching me anyway.

I use this mental torment as a feul for my writing and even influences the developement of some of my game design projects. I'm glad i have such great friends online, on this side, and on the otherside.

BLAH!!! I'M RANTING! ok i'm done... :zonked:

Im afraid of:
Fat People
Old ladies who think theyre still hot
Spammers
Michael Jackson
Stuff that could happen to my friends
(Oddly enough Im not really afraid of what could happen to me)

And my middle school principal who was a pothead and a Richard Simmons fanatic. In fact he looked a lot like Richard Simmons, which is another thing Im afriad of. He was creepy, especially when he was high. He and several other teachers used to go into the boiler room and smoke weed and then come out with bloodshot eyes. It was hilarious and creepy at the same time.

Yeah, she's in the 11th grade, and not yet 18. There's more details than this but i don't feel like ranting. She's truly screwed and we spent 2 hours on the phone trying to think of solutions. Nothing will work sensibly.

I did manage to talk more sense into her about suicide, so she'll live on for a while. I told her I have another very close friend watch over her and explained it to her. She feels better now about the whole thing but she still weary of it. The work of my friend has already influenced the scenario greatly. Unknowingly, her grandfather is letting her use her art skills to do drafting for the military, and has already looked into. I'm surprised things changed so suddenly. I'm glad I helped her out, but she's still worried about her grandfather, since i now hear that he's sick and dying, and she loves her grandfather even though he is an asshole. All of this plus the innate worrying women do.

And to BL, I write all sorts of stories. As a matter of fact, once i polish off my new story, i'll post it somewhere for people to read.
I spent 1 year and 3 months in story designing, and 2 weeks to write it :P
This story is about the character my avatar is based on, and i'm very proud of it.

As to the KINDS of writing, I like loops and unexpectabilities to spice things up, as well as detail on parts that are critical, and generalities on the less important parts. I will write anything that is crucial to the story, and I'll have to warn people before they read some of my stuff, because i will write in rather detailed sex-scenes and erotic stuff like that. I also write good suspence, action, mystery, romance, and horror.

i'm done

Considering the amount of liquid oxygen sored in tanks it is possible to be rocket fuel, although I doubt it (I mean, the security is low, but this is completely irresponsible...)
Stuff that could happen to my friends
(Oddly enough Im not really afraid of what could happen to me)
I also fear sruff that could happen to my close people while being rather careless about myself. I guess it's common. But it's not much of a problem, since few people know me good enought.

Paintings of people,
Long, dimly lit passages

When I'm walking down the passage, (which is dimly lit) I speed up when I pass an open door to a dark room

Reflections !!! omg, that scares the sh!t right out of me !

There's a place in my house where there's a big mirror. If you look into it, then behind you are 2 glass doors, and a window, all facing different directions. And I can see like, 5 different reflections of myself, all facing different directions. And for some reason, that scares me pissless. :quizzical:

Oh, and not being able to move my head or neck. I would rather die.

I honestly don't fear too much. I feel like, if it is going to happen to me, and there is nothing I can do about it, why worry. I do sometimes fear failure, or inadequacy. I don't like getting bad grades in school, or making customers wait too long. But as I said before; If I can help it, I will try, if not, there is no point getting upset.

2?) to die a painful way (something that makes you die slowly, very slowly),
3?) to die without have done anything worthy for the humanity and/or the earth (at least write a book, make a cool website, at least something, anything, come on...),
4?) to waste my time (talking with stupid people, working on something that have no chance of success, to wait etc ...),

49?) that people become so corrupted by technologies we cannot anymore consider them humans,
50?) that internet become a nazi place where (american) corporations like Microsoft, Intel etc make you have to ask for an agreement to do anything (download a file, make a map, update your homepage etc),

well i just read some scary-ass stories online, (shudder) one about a mysterious shadow in a mirror that craves attention, and another apparently true story (meh, i know) of a young couple that saw a dark humanoid creature with hollow eyes and knees bent backwards, it was creepy. Now im pissing as i always here funny noises in my house (looking around nervously).

I get scared of quite alot generally speaking but the only way to get over fear is to learn from it.

Still, I can kill a spider so I get rid of it, but i can't let it just sit there, or touch me.
Sharp object should be obvious.
Like knifes or swords.
