Uh...
Do you have Half-life on steam? If so, the setup'd be virtually the same...

If you however don't have Half-Life, then yes, you need to buy it. Wasn't that pretty obvious?

No! The directories you need are in <steamfolder>/steamapps/<username>/<game name>/
After that it's just like with regular Hl1. Valve folder is hl1's mod folder.

Wrong forum anyway. Do you want to map for source(hl2,Cs:s) or Hl?(Hl1 opfor,CS,dod..ect)

If you don't have Half-Life (and no Half-Life based games like CS and DoD either) then setting up Hammer 3.x is pretty useless... but I reckon it works for CS:CS just fine, so it's just using different base pathnames than the tutorial describes.

Steam is just a distribution platform.

Although, it wouldn't do you any bad to buy Half-Life... It is a great game.

But to map for CS:CZ, you don't need half-life. You just change the appropriate folders and files from HL, to CS in the hammer set-up.
(also, version 3.5 is out, although it is still beta)

Ok thx i think i got this thing running now! One more question in the tutorial it says:

Brushes ?
So to get the ball rolling we need to create a brush. Click on the Block Tool on the left-hand side of the screen, place your cursor on the Top (x/y) window and click on the intersection of the dark green lines. Hold and drag your cursor diagonally up and to the right about 4 squares (this assumes that you have Snap: On Grid: 64 at the bottom-right) and let go. You now have a white dotted line that is starting to represent a rectangle.
Let's turn this brush into a solid. Click on the Selection Tool on the left-hand side of the screen and position the cursor over the center of the white outlined brush in any of the 2D views.

Ok i click the selection tool thing and the white dotted lines disapear. What do i do

Hmm, that's a bad thing there... that tutorial really should mention that pressing Enter after drawing the brushes outline actually creates the brush...
