Seeing as i am taking quite a beating in the Emo thread i thought id start a freindlier one. This is taken from another forum i often visit and thought you people may appreciate it.

What is the oldest game that you still play??

Mine is Covert Action, a cracking spy game that you can now download for free if you google it. Amazing game that involves bugging cars, houses, cracking messages, breaking and entering and bringing down huge terrorist organisations.

I play CS 1
Posted 18 years ago2006-03-10 09:54:24 UTC Post #167390
Cs 1 is old? :P It can't be, it was probebly published in 1999-2001, thats not that old you know. Maybe we should determine what is old and whats not before starting such threads.

I think old in terms of first person shooters is everything before Quake1, which was the first game with models. All the games that use only sprites.

No,there was one fps game before it! I think it was called Catacomb Rider. Alas no one knew about it, the first games are always not popular. Like Dune2, everybody knows C&C but less people know Dune2.

Wolf 3D was ID's first semi-3D shooter, Doom came later. Wolf is teh pwn no denying, its the big daddy of all ID games! Doom is good but dull compared to the fun of shooting Hitler in a robot suit.

The chaos engine was hard for me too... once. Now I finished it many times, I found most of the secrets in the game and the chaos engine it self doesn't kill me even once, only it's four 'gaurds' kill me. Too bad I don't have a joystick so I can play with my brother in the same time, the computer is so dumb as a companion, even if I buy him lots of wisdom! :tired:

Did you ever hear of dstroy? Thats how it is sepposed to be spelled- with a spelling error! ;)
Posted 18 years ago2006-03-10 15:47:03 UTC Post #167510
HEYYYY..... Wolfenstein is the first "1st Person" game... And Doom is really younger... Later, Quake... After, HL... All an ID Software :tired:

Ahn... And I play "IronMan OffRoad Racing" - Virgin Interactive - 1989 :sarcastic:

I run through an old adventure game once in a while, most recently Discworld I & II. Half-Life I play whenever I get bored, think that's the oldest really.

The most recent game I've played that I would consider old would be Broken Sword 2.

I wanted to play Starfigher 3000 and Duke Nukem 3D but my PC doesn't want to degrade itself it seems.

Moonstone is an arcade action/adventure game for up to 4 players. You play as knights in search of some holy thingy. You move around a world map and choose different areas. then you fight monsters in that area and if you win, you get a chest.

There are parts of the moonstone hidden in some chests (random). The goal is to collect all parts and take them to stonehenge. doesn't sound very amusing but it is! :D It's extremely gory

Th first fps is body count... just so you know..
How is that possible if Body Count was released on 1994 by Capstone Software while Castle Wolfenstein 3D was realesed in 1992? ;)

BTW: In the chaos engine, anybody knows whats the use of the money in the first and third levels in the world? It disapears in the next level anyway.

Edit: That game is even old for it's own time! Doom was released one year before it! :o
