What I mean is when you join a map, and the window pops up saying Welcome to CSS, or a description of the map. How do you make a custom greeting/description for a map?

mapname.txt still, I think. Maybe .htm. Check the GCFs!

put a txt file the same name of the map in the maps directory with your greeting in it

I dont know if it still works for CS:Source, but you could create a file with a message to show up when joining your server, regardless of the map being played. I think the file was motd.txt (message of the day)

The filename for that was/probably is specified by a server cvar, so doesn't really matter what it's called.
