I have downloaded some models, which include the .vmf, .vmt and .mdl files.
How do I put these into Hammer?
I tried reading the "Your first XSI model", because at the end it tells you how to install them.

But those are smd files, and I really don't understand.
Any help?

Open the VMT in Notepad and have a look: it should give you a directory.

Okay, I'll have a look

EDIT:

{
"$baseTexture" "camera/lens"
} [/quote]

These models are meant for Gmod, but I need them in my map.

EDIT2: There are several .vmt files, but they all are similar

.mdl files go into your models folder, their materials into your materialsmodels folder.

No what I meant was habboi, the models were created for gmod, but I want them to be in my map. How do I get them in Hammer, I know how to get them into the gmod game itself, but I need them in my map. I know the author, and he gave me permission. (dav0r and steinmann)

If I go into Hammer, will it appear in the model browser? I want them as prop statics

If I'm right you just map for HL2 cause it uses the same entities...Paste the model files in the areas above but in Gmod and HL2. (You can of course configure Hammer for Gmod I guess)

Then it may work...Otherwise paste them in the SDK folder as well..Surely the models came with a readme...

Depending on what the VMT file says depends on where the models go. If the models are for GMOD, then it's possible that they're setup to go into the model folder for GMOD. As such, if you move 'em into a different folder, they won't work, unless you preserve the same folder names.

Edit: Argh, my bad, that stuff is defined in the QC file, not the VMT file: the VMT file is for textures. The QC, however, is embedded in the model itself.

As I said, they just go in the same folders, except that you place them in your half-life 2 folder rather than your garry mod folder.
