Has anyone noticed this?

I guess that ends the debate about PC vs. console gaming.

It's a sad day. :

If they don't give us attention, I will um..... Well I don't know.

But I can just see that they will stop basicly all updates for PC and give all their nub Xbox players.(No offence to any of the xbox players).

And I'm sure they will pay, because it will bring more attention to the fourms (Spam spam and more spam) And they will have loads of people asking for help by e-mail. Which already takes 2 weeks to get a question answered. They will pay!!!

I cant wait to see the modding community that hl thrived on spring up on the xbox360 ohwait

Maybe they'll sell mods like cs to xbox360 playas!

I highly doubt they will stop updates. All it really means to me is that there will be (more updated, better looking/running) Source powered games on the Xbox 360. Nothing wrong with that.

I see no problem with this. I just didn't think Valve would bother doing anything console related, considering that HL2 for the Xbox was a total flop (coming straight from the horses mouth).

The problem with HL2 on xbox was the hype that came with hl2 was directed at pc owners...therefore everyone owning an xbox and a pc (probably most people owning an xbox) got it on pc first :x
Since valve will now be creating 'new' games for xbox directly, they'll have heaps more sales.... supposedly

Who knows, maybe they'll pee some more new games off to the 'wii' console as well
:D

I dont see why they would stop servicing PC owners. They started and thrived on the PC. They wont just drop it. Consoles are ok, but PC's are so much better. You can mod, upgrade, FPS controls are great. Xbox is limited to its hardware, and there is no modding.

I read somewhere Steam was going to be distributing games on the Nintendo Revolution? If so Steam is really selling out!

Just like games companies bought out by Microsoft totally don't do this

Ever played goldeneye? You can buy a keyboard and mouse for most consoles anyway. The only thing pcs have going for them is the self modding/customisation of the games.
Xbox is limited to its hardware, and there is no modding.
Limited to its considerably-better-than-most-current-pc's hardware and mods are available, just through Microshifts Xbox portal

I'm confused.

Will they keep making games for PC or not?

360 is better now Joba, but not in the future. As soon as the new 512 cards come down a bit, Im duel SLI'in those babies with duel 3.4 ghz cpu's! Im pretty sure you cant buy keyboards/mice for any console. That is a myth.

Goldeneye had so much auto-aim to compensate for the console controls.

lol Xyos212, I've got a usb to whatever the hell the round things are called for the keyboard and mouse, I player monster hunter with the keyboard for typing. Its just the plain usb keyboards cost a bit more than normal ones.

Can you get one for xbox? Ive always had people tell me that you cant get them, they are fake, etc. I have heard of it for PS2... Is it available for xbox?
Posted 17 years ago2006-04-28 09:19:18 UTC Post #177199
I don't know about xbox, but I'f they have usb plugs you can plug them in (They might not work but hey its a step closer to their goal, Being a super gaming computer) Yeah but I've only ever used one on my PS2.

my point was that the controls didnt matter, it still 'played' like one of the best fps' ive had the fortune to have

Give them five years, and the average gaming computer hardware will far surpass the Xbox 360 technology.

PC hardware is always going to be on the cutting edge. No console can ever compete with that.

The ALX alienware is ahead of 360. But its 7000$ so :( Like Satchmo said, the prices will decline and surpass 360.

I personally think this is great news, think of being able to make a map for a game where everyone has the same extremely good hardware (for now anyway). You can add all the nice details in and not worry about it being too laggy for some players, if it works on yours, it works on everyones.

Regarding the Xbox version of HL2 being a flop, I think that is the reason why Valve are doing this. They want to prove that they can make console games, so far they only have a stronghold in the PC market.

To be fair to them, they released it just when the 360 came out, not a very good incentive to buy an Xbox game.

At least they didnt totally sell out by not making PC products anymore :/

If they can find a way to upload custom maps from Hammer on the PC to 360 servers I really won't give a shit about this
Posted 17 years ago2006-05-01 16:43:07 UTC Post #177741
It's going to suck. Not because it is on the 360, but they are just going to use the fact that it uses Source to sell it. Look at HL2.
Posted 17 years ago2006-05-01 23:04:55 UTC Post #177820
I think it would be interesting if valve actually built a game around the console, rather then simply porting a game from the PC. HL2 sucked on Xbox because Xbox just wasn't built to run it, they're probably wouldn't even be as many painstakingly long load times if they hadn't used the source engine.

Yeah, and the '360 is rather more technically capable than the (laugh) X-Box.

I dont know why you would laugh at the xbox. It was old, and when it was made it was very good (hardware wise)

M_gargantua: They would never make anything that would allow hammer maps to be ported over. This is the whole reason why conoles suck. No custom effects or changes the user can make.

HL2 on Xbox runs smoother than my stuttery PC version! :D
But yes the Xbox version pales in comparisson to the Xbox version.

That could change quite easily with the Xbox 360's new PC/Console connectivity features.
