hey, just wanted to ask you guys if you know of any good sound converters.
I already transfered my mp3s to 16bit wav files.. now I need them in 8bit.. but I don't want to loose as much sound quality as I do when I use Windows Sound Recorder.

Anyways.. SoundForge works wonders Muzzleflash, I can't even notice the difference between 16bit, and 8bit. Thanks.

Ah shoot, I knew it was to good.
Ok, the sound file is'nt working in half-life..
What I did in Soundforge was
Process-->BitDepth Converter--> Changed it to 8Bit
Process-->Channel Converter--> Changed it to Mono

But it still does'nt work..
Does the Audio Sample rate, or bitrate need to be changed too?
If so, how? Will in decrease the sound quality?

The bit rate of an uncompressed audio file is purely dependent on the number of channels (mono, stereo), resolution (8-bit, 16-bit), and sampling frequency (22.05kHz, 44.1kHz).

Read the Custom Sounds tutorial!

Just open your file in SoundForge/Goldwave, then simply resave it as your desired filetype and attributes.

He's already got something, and Winamp is hardly the beastie to use for good conversions. dBPowerAmp rules for that, but in this case, Sound Forge sufficed.
