I have the shareware version of quake 1 and I want to play it, but it doesn't work with xp and DosBox emulator sucks with it. I have looked at quakeforge, but I have no idea what t download and what to do with it, and glquake makes no sense to me either. ANy help with getting quake 1 to work with xp like normal?

Would you mind telling me what the hell I'm going to do with an eathquake wave monitor?

hahah thats the laziest bit of googling ever, at least look at the page before you link to it

http://wiki.quakesrc.org/index.php/WinQuake

What kind of ungoogleable question is this anyway, theres a billion resources out there on a search for 'quake' and 'xp'

but none of them helped me, I would download their "solutions" but it either didn't work or it wasn't to be used with shareware.

Thats funny, my brother once played that old demo on his new and strong computer and it worked fine. What do you mean sucks on dosbox? Poor framerate? Did you raise or lower the CPU cycles and frameskip?

It doesn't have sound on DosBox, and the framerate is choppy even with the increased cycles.

No No, don't use winQuake.

Use tenebrae instead.
