Had an idea to do this a while ago, just never did it. First time doing any sort of posing.

Created with GMOD and Comic Life (Mac software).

Pretty slick, and amusing, some of the text is a little small, but nice none-the-less. :)

Nice posing, good editing, good theme. Quite funny, too, this has potential. A bit dark, for us 0-brightness-monitor users, you might want to kick the lightness up a bit in whatever editing app you're using.

Good work.

some of the text is a little small
My bad. It looked fine on my screen.
A bit dark, for us 0-brightness-monitor users
Double my bad. This screen is incredibly bright, even when I've got the brightness all the way down in HL2. Sorry about that peeps.

Well.. i do run my desktop at 1280x960, so alot of text looks small, but yours just seemed smaller (the background text from the other characters), regardless, i can still read it.

And fourthly, DONT_BUFF_MY_PILON 1!! It gets rid of the benchmark.
How many 'w's in 'wwwwwwwwwwwwwtf'?

Dont_buff_my_pylon is an actual console command in G-mod.

The cube background really could use some work - it brings far too much contrast and draws attention away from what's going on.

Can't see what's happening at all in the last frame, 'tis very dark.

It's a proper console command for the GMOD and yes, it gets red of the watermark. I only realised it was there after finishing the comic.

As for the image sizes, not all comics need to conform to a standard "2x6" format, like Concerned. A lot of real comic books use different sized frames to emphasise certain elements of the plot. It also looks more dynamically interesting than a boring collection of squares.

As for the theme, minimalism ftw.

ZL: The cube background was meant to simulate the Hammer grid.

As for the last frame, you'll have to manually brighten it yourself as I seriously don't know what's bright and what isn't.

really good, ant... Maybe make the width 800 pixels. Nice work and funny, but again, a bit small

Ant: Bump up the brightness next time.. Example:

After:

There's no serious drop in quality or colour correctness, but in the latter image I can actually see what's going on.
And, as stated, the text really is quite small when I think about it...

Pretty good, nice posing, though not sure about the black and white backgroud.
Posted 17 years ago2006-06-19 11:26:32 UTC Post #185889
I really like the black and white background, it IS like a developer grid and fits the idea perfectly.

Hmm, I think it could have been better if it wasn't so bright and conrtasty.

Ant, just hit the gamma adjust in PSP before you post stuff and knock it up to 1.2 or so.

9/10 needs some brightness

and for the background, why don't you make an accuall hamer grid, with very thin lines over a black background. and not to forget the highlighted lines every 8 grid squares, and the blue center lines.

Dunno how I'm gonna be able to make an actual Hammer grid, unless I cut the characters out and paste 'em in, which is outta my league cos I suck with PSP so it'd look crap.

I may make more, dunno yet.

Its merely ok. Not much to laugh at, just mostly basic text.
