I'm having problems with setting up the 3d skybox. I put the sky_camera to 0,0,0 and some disp. surfaces around it, but in the game it appears to be next to, instead of around the main area:

in an other try it appeared to be way up while the camera was above it.
anyone any ideas/suggestion?
(and yes, I've read hundreds of 3D skybox tutorials but neither one helps)

When building a 3D sky camera, the sky camera is placed where the sky box should be. The sky camera determines how it will look to the player using 0,0,0 as a reference. place the sky camera in the center of the skybox construction, and it should work

I dont really think its needed to put it in 0 0 0 in the world. Just place it, select the geometry to be skyboxed (including the skycamera) copy, paste special, then ok, then scale to .0625. Delete the sky camera from the regular world, but leave the one in the skybox. Its that simple :)

center of the hollowed cube.. that is what I am trying all the time.. but hell, I'll try again. maybe it's not exactly in the center. maybe.

It is, indeed, a good tut: I only had scaling issues, but i was making a map that was really small to begin with :D
