what program do I need to re-make a map, or to decompile it? I forgot the name of it. This guy I play with wants a cs_italy_cz map but with a few changes to it. I assume you're looking for WinBSP, but there's no way to just decompile a map and add a few things into it, then recompile. The brushwork is all messed up when you decompile a map, as it carves the whole map out of a big block. You would have to reconstruct all the brushwork to be able to recompile correctly.

You can however take the decompiled map, and compile with entities only, and thereby edit any entity in the map, like spawns, sounds, etc.
I've done it before... it's easy and fast to do.
If you want to change any brushwork like elon said, you have to rebuild the whole thing

In the Black Mesa: Source mod if you recall, they were/are recreating the whole original game--again-- for the Source engine.
I could be wrong, but I don't think they paid for any licensing.

Poop. That's what I was looking for, WinBSP. Thanks. I remember hearing about decompiling maps and having them all screwed up, but never tried it(obviously). I was hoping I didnt need to rebuild the whole thing. Thanks for the input guys!
