Leaving a wife and two children behind is indeed very sad. I never really liked what Steve Irwin did for Australia's appearance, but that doesn't matter, it is of course tragic what happened, and from what i hear, it was a painful death too, poor man.

A lot of people don't like what he did for Australia's appearance, but if you look at everything he has done for wildlife and animals, you will realise that he really was a great man. He used most of his profits (from his shows/movies) on buying conservation land and such.

he died instantly from a stingray barb to the heart, and his wife is pregnant with no. 3.

I'm sure he has done plenty for the wildlife and animals of Australia, as i said before what i thought of his image doesn't matter, i still think it's a terrily sad event. I only just found this out about half-an-hour ago, and i'm still a little shocked as to how it happened.

ED: Instantly? I thought i heard he died a little more slowly, either way it's tragic.

Conflicting reports, but I believe he was airlifted to hospital and was unable to be saved. Though I could be entirely wrong.

I was never a fan of any of his TV shows/Movies but I still feel sorry for him. After I watched the Video I saw how much he cared about Animals and all that.

He was fun to watch and I'm sure he was a great supporter of wildlife, but he was one crazy parent, I dont care if you are 'in control' you do not dangle your baby infront of a FUCKING CROCODILE
Posted 17 years ago2006-09-04 08:23:27 UTC Post #195561
Whilst I do admit that was an act of stupidity, I didn't really see WHY it caused such freaking controversy. I don't really think the baby was in that much danger tbh.

surely his death at the hands of an animal proves he wasn't as much in control as he thought?
Posted 17 years ago2006-09-04 09:34:03 UTC Post #195567
I heard that he died like two years ago, some snake bit him or something, but obviously that was wrong.

He was fun to watch because he loved what he did so he really put all of his interest into the show.

That whole baby incident was plain stupidity, celebrities like dangling their babies infront of crocodiles or over balconies (looking at you MJ), hell celebrities even name their children 'Blanket' and 'Apple'... celebrities are different kinds of persons to us, you see.

ED:
surely his death at the hands of an animal proves he wasn't as much in control as he thought?
This was a freak event, typically he'd have people watching over him with tranquliser guns ready to nail a croc, but getting your heart punctured by a stingray is just... an uncontrollable, unpredictable event, and so unlikely to happen, it's still surprising to me that that's how he died.

Krike! he put his baby within reach of a croc's mouth?!!1

I guess I'm glad he's dead now, because his children will be safer :)

If he were alive, I think he'd appreciate the clear intention at a sick joke ;)
Posted 17 years ago2006-09-04 10:07:35 UTC Post #195579
The baby was atleast 2 metres away, and the croc was facing sllightly away from his direction, he did it for some attention and apologized afterwards. You could tell he immediately regretted it, but it was still a foolish thing to do.

Saying you're glad he's dead seems a bit harsh. :
Oh, and it's 'Crikey!'.. i think.

ED: Sick joke, erm k.

Poor Crocodile, how evil of him. Isn't that guy that idiot that always sits and hugs crocodiles for no aperent reason?
I alway hated those guys, whats their problem? I don't believe that they are intrested in studying the animals. Just in tagging them. :P
Amazing man who cared for animals more than anyone else in the world.
Don't know, infact I hardly think so. He probebly just liked catching them, it's like a game, a dangerous one.

He knew this could easily happend, i always found him a strange weird fella. All he wanted to do was poke every animal he encountered.

My day is ruined. Completely ruined. :(
I wouldn't have expected this to be the end of him. Its surprising, really. If he was going to die on his job I thought a snake or a crocodile would have killed him.
RIP

Stever Irwin, i only saw a few of his shows but i have to admit, he had courage i would never have.

Have to say he was a bit loony at times (the baby thing was a little irrational)

Like the 'stingray deny any involvement' pic.

Hey there, Just dropped by to give my condolences to all you Aussies...

I heard about it this morning... Quite a freak accident. Its ironic, he spent all his time in the most dangerous of situations, and was killed by something so highly improbable.

Erwin was a great contributor to conservation, and a seriously entertaining man to watch...

I watched that guy for 14 years waiting for it to happen, never did I think It'd be like this...

At least he died while doing something he loved...

in the heart with a poisonous spear extinct or what?

I'd like to clear some things up.

He didn't die instantly. He was taken to his boat nearby, and died there, before being taken to a hospital morgue.
Don't know, infact I hardly think so. He probebly just liked catching them, it's like a game, a dangerous one.
You're an ignorant cockfag. Honestly. This man (who I'm sure made millions of dollars) put 90% of his profits towards CONSERVATION and such. He's not a crocodile hunter. He was an activist who had a passion for animals. At least TRY to make it sound like you know what you're talking about before you make a complete dickwad of yourself.
All he wanted to do was poke every animal he encountered.
You're a dickwad too. It almost seems like people have no respect for the dead anymore. Some people are extremely passionate about what they do, and Irwin was one of them. It doesn't mean he wants to fuck them. Arsehole.
At least he died while doing something he loved...
Amen to that. RIP.

It is a bit of a tragedy, I'll agree with Trapt on the image but he actually has done a lot for our tourism from that image... soo good on him. It is a sad event but hopefully people will remember him for his enthusiasm. Stingrays aren't usually that dangerous, if he was stabbed with the tail anywhere else he would've actually had a good chance of survival...

Shove a toothpick through your heart, shove a toothpick through your hand, see the difference?

You're a dickwad too.
I can't tell if that's directed at me, or pepper, who originally said it. I don't think it was intended to be interpreted that way, that's just the first thing I thought of when I read it. I don't actually think that he has sex with those animals. That's just digusting.

So either way, you're wrong, and I still have respect for dead people.

That's probably true. It doesn't serve much function other than acknowledging that he's dead, telling horrific jokes about it, and spreading the word, which is what the news is for.

Thousands of people die in Africa everyday because the UN is to afraid to do something and there economys are getting raped by the western world.

We over exegerated death, talking about humans here. to me, life isnt worth a dime. You live or die, you all got to go once, better go when doing something you like.

Life is just a speckle in the lifetime of the earht, a insignificant Ant that can be squished under your own feet, a raindrop that starts to fall.

You ozzies are really upset about it, strange bunch o peeps.
