I need help keeping this thing down when on my account. I've surfin' w/ FireFox and all of a sudden, AOL pops up trying to sign on w/o permission. The only reason my parents still have it is b/c they don't want to try and transfer all their addresses to outlook and shit. Can I stop AOL from popping up on my account?

EDIT Forgot to mention that after I close AOL, FireFox no longer has an outgoing connection and I have to restart it.

Is AOL your ISP still?

No, we get our internet from our cable company. My parents use it b/c they don't know any better and they aren't willing to switch over to a new primary e-mail (telling all their contacts about the change).

And I happen to like shorthand. It's much faster.

Abandom hope, all ye who enter AOL, as returning to the world of better ISP's is a near impossibility. Few have fought their way past the noobish parents and stubborn customer service people that stand like massive barriers in the middle of your path to freedom.

Deep dude, deep.

Fortunutly, the problem seems to have corrected itself. AOL hasn't popped up in a while. But pray for my net-ernal soul 'til I get my AOL-free laptop.

lol, altough, truth be told, their Security Center isn't that bad. It's McAfee firewall/spyware/virus protection w/ an AOL all-in-one interface.

It's shit. McAfee sucks. Anything that attempts to do everything doesn't do anything particularly well. I suggest going for individual packages, like Ad-Aware, AVG and ZA.

Those companies must be making a bundle from all the poor saps who don't know better than to pay for their virus protection. If only more people knew that they could get just as good (if not better) protection for free.

Mcafee is great, if you get the enterprise edition.
