what do you think, will this be a positive change or a negative change to youtube?
will it cease to exist?
will they merge?

any ideas?

Positive change. Google have generally done a great job on the Internet, so I'm guessing that YouTube will only improve.

Google're monopolizing, which is always bad. The bigger a corporation gets, the more evil it becomes, it's a pretty general rule with businesses. Basically because more and more people want a slice of the good stuff.

Agreed with ZL.
YouTube might just end up, being a part of Google video. :

Disney will buy Google, then Microsoft will buy Disney.

...ZL will buy Habboi probably, as the stock market shows.

I need a youtube account, i hope there isn't a membership price or something. Large corps, like to charge you for stupid stuff like that. But if there is a steady income, it can only imporove.

Dude, youtube wouldn't have become one of the web's most popular sites if it weren't free. Tssk, you should know better.

I doubt that google will become evil, googlevideo and google is good shit. Unlike evil corporation like microsoft, they make shit and make you use it. Im having a real hard time trying to find the Mac I want, the G4... And I blame microsoft for that. I want a REAL computer! Not a pc!

Google ftw. So far...

I would think CNN would be smarter not to use the word billion.

900 billion? its 1.6 Hunter.

You english use a different notation right?

We use 1.000.000 for one billion.
Posted 17 years ago2006-10-12 16:36:48 UTC Post #199433
3 zeroes = thousand.
6 zeroes = million.
9 zeroes = billion.
This is 4th grade maths, people.

pepper: The cause of your confusion might be that the english don't use milliard, which most other (read: smart) european countries use, they skip it and go straight for billion, which in a lot of countries is 10^12, whereas an english billion is 10^9. Fucking brits.
Posted 17 years ago2006-10-12 19:26:55 UTC Post #199455
Wrong. A British billion is also 10^12. 10^9 is SI and American, though. For once, we're doing better than you. SI or STFU.

Tis the only reason I use Youtube so one change and bam.

Posted 17 years ago2006-10-13 07:26:03 UTC Post #199508
its why i said they shouldnt use billion, they could say onethousandmillion. Any way they whole world should stick to SI, Seventh is right. Say dont they use miles over there?
Posted 17 years ago2006-10-13 08:11:49 UTC Post #199517
I'm confused now.

Anyhoo, according to the blog from the creator of YouTube, the site won't change at all, apart from all the stuff they wanted to implement and couldn't due to a lack of resources. It won't become Google Video or anything like that.

Everyone should just use the same units, language and measurements. Everything'd become so much easier. Ein Volk!

First of all, it's DRM. I have no idea how you'd misspell an acronym if you actually knew what it meant. Second, YouTube have always removed copyright-protected content.

Nope
Posted 17 years ago2006-10-14 11:31:00 UTC Post #199647
ZL i agree with your one measurements idea, but thing is EVERYONE has different measurements. my sister who is studing in England at the moment says its extremly anoying for instance when buying things like milk they also use differentunits for different brands 0-o? anyways England also apparently has several different and confusing distance measurements.
Then America since they wanted to be independant from the Empire decided to create their own entire set of measurements. Germany itself (hurrah for ze Vaterland) had 4 different "miles" 150 years ago. Since were one country now that problems been solved but i believe we still use different measurements from england and definetly different ones from america. Not sure about the rest of europe and asia, afrika (can't remember what they used though i'm preety sure they were in kilometers and other things) and australia though.
