Is there a place a guy can get some good plant and tree textures?
I must confess I havn't looked too hard, but is it possible to get some here?

try checking the blue shift or opposing force cds to see what textures those have on them. you might find them useful.

Why don't you use plant/tree models?
Just don't put too many cos it lags your map.

I grabbed a whole heap of models from that german place 
, so I now have a heap of trees and... grass... and while I was there, I got a couple of cars, a bird of some sort, and to sum all that up, I got what I needed.
