Build it yourself, a lot of people (here) don't stop telling how stupid I am and I built my new computer a week ago, and it does save you money.

It depends on who's building it to be honest. If you're getting it done at a small computer store, then I'd recommend letting them do it: you're covered by warrenty if they fuck something up when installing it, and they shouldn't charge too much to do it.

Of course, if you're game enough, go ahead and build it. Tis fun.

You didn't say which heatsink, so I would think it's intels, read the god damn instructions, you have to push the diagonally opposite pins in together and then the other 2 or it won't work.

build it yourself. cheaper and more fun, as long as you order from a decently priced store.

I've heard good stuff about www.newegg.com from a friend of mine. I just decided to order mine from www.Tiger-Direct.com because I've had a history of buying things from them before.

Alienware? Yuck. Custom build is the only way to go. If you live in the US, Newegg.com is the best site to order parts from.

If you dont know what to get, just let us know how much youre willing to spend and we'll help you get the best PC for your money.

Whatever you end up doing, don't get an Alienware. They may have been the first to mass produce gaming computers, but that doesn't mean they're the best, and they certainly aren't a good deal. People shouldn't buy them unless all they're looking for is a status symbol.

Anyway, I'd still recommend building your own. If I could do it when I was 13, then it can't be too hard, eh?.

Why? Something tells me you're paying a lot of dough for this extra bag of crap that no one needs.
I'd definitely recommend building it yourself. I dunno, it might just be me, but when stores offer to build your comp, they'll throw in the cheapest brand of every hardware item you need and call it super-extra-mega. It might differ between stores, indeed, but still. Hm. If you build it yourself, you can tailor each specific item to whatever you want - I'd recommend top-notch makers for each hardware thingie.

Anyway, don't get Alienware. DELL owns Alienware, and we all know how bad DELL is.

they're chargeing you for shit. no company in the world gives you good speakers, ever. and that computer doesn't even come with an X-fi or ZS2 so the interference on the mobo's built in will sound bad

and if you really want 7.1, get a Creative Labs 7.1 GigaMax. now that is some insane audio

either build it yourself or get the alienware (alienware = massive price for the same thing)

if you wan't a spec list of what you should get just give me a price figure. and remember what ZL said.

www.ncix.com is where I've gotten my last 2 pc's from, cheap prices (Canadian based but has an American store)

Buying parts and building it yourself is alot cheaper, but yes make sure you know what your doing!

Go to a smaller shop and tell them what you actually want, or build it yourself, I say.

You can get more for your money if you build it yourself.

Build it yourself, no prebuilt system will match the value. Not to mention the satisfaction behind the whole process :]
