After a long, long, LONG time of not working on any big mapping, projects I've started this. And its not a city! Dementophobia will be a map for HLDM, CS 1.6, TW 1.4(The Wastes), and RE:CB(RE Cold Blood). Ambience is a real killer in this one, but unfortuately I can't show sounds in screenshots, so something's probably going to be lost in translation. I didn't want to make a thread about it, but now I do so bah.

Wait a second before you call it boxy, a lot of the details are on an extremely small scale. Small things like doorframes are "built" to look as realistic as possible(as in they aren't just a corridor, they have layers and slants and crap).
That's the fear of insanity, by the way.
PS: You guys were right, I couldn't get Brushopolis to a playable level so I dropped it. Shame.

Did you change the FOV by chance in that last shot? The door just seems huge.

As for the level it sure does look spooky and I hope you add more objects later on in development. Maybe a small video with the sounds would prevail?

My god this map is going to be the shit. Can't wait for that. But really, this looks very good so far. I'm guessing it's a burned-out/abandoned hospital/mental hospital?

Reminds me of the abandoned hospital from Bloodlines, cool stuff. Could look a wee bit brighter but it's probably both my gamma and the fact I'm viewing the shots on a white BG.

But this is abandoned, am I correct? Taking this into consideration, it probably wouldn't have any lights turned on. If it did, I'm sure most of them either wouldn't work or would be really dim.

By the way, have you considered placing glow sprites under the lights? that would make it even creepier.

Oh another concern of mine is the textures, they are really nice...Did you make them? I was just thinking the quality could be better, more smooth and detailed so perhaps remake them with sharper detail?

The pics are too dark, I can't make much out but it looks good from what I can see. Don't put too much stuff lying around or you'll crowd the hall. Maybe even some torture equipment!

This would work so well as Singleplayer! It looks awesome, creepy and that kind of shit!

In my experience, creepy doesn't work in DM, but it works in SP ;)

ZL: Not specifically torture equipment, though. What would the point of simply torturing somebody be without result? The things they do may be painful, but it's not for punishment AFAIK. :

Tosse: Agreed. You can't build up a sense of tension without any kind of pacing, and multiplayer games don't usually excel at this, especially not DM. The best you can really hope for is to have good atmosphere. Once you've scared somebody, it's only going to look like a gimmick playing it another time.

Not mine. I don't think I'll evr make my own textures since I don't have, or have the desire to have, the tools needed(aka Photoshop). I can make my own skies, my own props, etc, but no textures for me :( . The main sets I'm using are dtex_asylum and q3evil1.
The quality issue that you see is probably a contrast between the floor and the wall. The floor textures are shrunk to 50% but the walls and [usually] the ceiling are normal size. The best I can dow ith the wall is shrink it down to 75%, anything lower and the bottom of the texture shows up along the ceiling. Though I may consider alligning the "loop" with the cable that runs along the wall.
Torture equipment? They don't have torture equipment in mental hospitals...

As far as being multi-player, I think if it's going to be extremely dark, it should be darkER (yes I'm crazy [not the whole map tho]), that way, giving the players a reason to use the flashlight, at least sometimes.

And is CS 1.6 version going to be hostage scenario? Or bomb? Just curious... either one would be fine, I'm just nosy. "... rescue the mentally-ill forget patients from the year 1980 who cannibalized to survive..." or "... blow out this damn useless structure..." =D

I'm still high off of electricity (I continually pressed a extremely strong joy-buzz pen until I couldn't press it anymore.... then i fell over.)

CS is probably going to be either a hostage rescue or a VIP, though I hate as_ maps.

Edit: I'll consider making a single player version, but I'm afraid it wouldn't turn out too well. I could take the general theme of the map and make an entirely new SP map(s) though.
