Half-life Beta Recreation

This is the 3rd time I've re-written this, due to the forum not registering my thread :|

I've cut it down in size:

How about a mod team recreates the half-life 1 beta. I am already working on scientist skins, and there are plenty reference pics.
It would be interesting, and since valve doesnt seem to have any plans to release it, this is probably gonna be the closest we'll ever get to playing it.
I took a load of comparison screenshots about purple lighting, but they were all lost.

Whaddya think?

beta as in floaters, chubtoads, stukabats, friendlies, kingpins, and all of the cool crap they cut out of the final?

I like the idea!

Didn't you work on that time mechine already? I advice you to work on a single project and never give up if you like it. Working on more then one means none of the projects will ever be finished.
For example: Me, I used to work on 2 or 3 maps on the same time and always thinking on new map ideas, how many maps I finished untill my most recent one? Only 1!
Take hunter for example, he works on at list to mods, non finished. Hostage situation isn't such a big mod, it's much shorter then Hl1, will provide a maximum of 1.5 hours of playing for most players around here. And that mod has countless people working on it, each making a rather small number of maps.
Each member releases a part in the size approximetly of idol hunt, and that mod was started a long time after hostage situation, maybe a year and a half and it is also finished!
The reason there aren't many serious mappers around here, and the ones that are serious release tons of maps.

I wasn't saying I was definately gonna do it, just wondered what everyone thought. You're right though, but Splatmod is just something I've working on over time, adding stuff to it when I get a chance. The time machine was part of that, btw. :D

You're missing the fact, that making a mod alone and making a mod with a team of 7 people are two different things. I'm not saying, that a mod like that should've taken 2+ years to complete, although with team members dissapearing and the mod being abbandoned here and there - I think, that such a long development time is quite understandable.

The mod should have approx. 3-5 hrs. of gameplay. And you forgot to mention custom weapons, modified NPCs and other changes.
it's much shorter then Hl1
Wha? Why would you compare a HL mod with the actual game?
