I believe this is the first time i made a thread in the HL Engine Discussion Forum. Oh well.

When i start up Hammer, using the desktop shortcut, Hammer sometimes doesn't seem to maximize correctly, showing the desktop background at the top of the screen. The weirdest part is, that when i close Hammer and restart it, it usually maximizes correctly, and if not, i keep restarting until it does. Anyone experiencing the same issue?

And no, this has got nothing to do with my modified Hammer, its been doing this since Worldcraft 3.3.

I've been getting the exact same problem for quite awhile now.
I just restore the window and resize it manually.

Used to have the same problem in 3.3, but no more is that annoyance. And you know, just because it was doing it in 3.3 doesn't mean it has nothing to do with your modified Hammer.

Any idea why it is happening?

Probably has to do with your resolution?

It assumes that your resolution is lower?

I doubt that. I run 1600x1200, and when i was using Worldcraft 3.3, 4/5 years ago, i ran 800x600 and it was still doing it.

I geuss its just some kind of glitch in Hammer's program code... :/

hammer is made for a widescreen tv. Don't download the HD version!

I get this problem too occasionally. Pain in the ass, and there doesn't seem to be a fix. Just do what Dauby said and resize it manually, it's the only way (that I can see) to get around this.

I'll just restart Hammer when it happends. That usually fixes it.
Still weird though. :/
