Yep, everytime I Open HLMV, all goes well, then when I open a model to view, It freezes up the system... I'm thinking its because I need some drivers for OpenGL.. can someone help?

What version of HLMV / OpenGL are you using?

Most recent, as far as I know.

Whenever I change the screensaver to the one with the rotating text, it also freezes the system..

Do games run properly? And do you have the latest graphics card drivers?

Also, did you install the drivers that came with the card? I think those are needed for the card to actually function. Then the downloadable drivers update the originals.

Or go to Omegadrivers.net They usually have ones optimized for the card.

Just to be sure, but are you using Jed's Half-Life Model Viewer?

yep.. but thats irrelevant. :( Because anything OpenGL it freezes up, and control-alt-delete wont work.. indicating its not a program freezing up. So I have to hit the power switch. I really need this fixed. I have no idea what drivers I need.... and I'm pretty sure OpenGLs enabled.

Well, the best you could do is make sure you completely uninstall your current videocard drivers using this tool:
http://www.themightyatom.nl/stuff/cat-uninstaller.zip

Its an official tool from ATI, so its save to use, i just host a copy on my website for backup purpose.

So get that, uninstall the driver, reboot, download and install the latest driver package from the ATI website, reboot.
Now you are sure that you have a clean installation of the videocard drivers with no traces of left behind drivers.

Hope this helps. I use the uninstaller everytime i install a new driver. Works fine.

Sorry, i didn't know you're on a laptop, in that case the Radeon Xseries or 9xxx series of drivers don't work on your system, obviously, so try this one, if you haven't already:

Thats strange, why would you want to have a laptop videocard (mobility) built into your pc?
Very strange...

You could try the 200M version, but if that doesn't work, you have installed the wrong type of card in your rig. Mobility Radeon Cards belong in laptops/notebooks.

Well, I installed hammer, and it works fine, but as soon as I change the 3D window from wireframe, to textured if freezes up.. so its not just OpenGL screwed up.. Please, I need this fixed. Edit: Well, I got a picture of the texture rendering in Hammer..
I zoomed out till I couldn't see the block, changed the view, and then zoomed back in.. and this is what I got:

You appear to have some updates available. :)

But yeah, that is fucked up.
