Record yourself shooting Dave repeatedly.

OR, make sure the ambient_generic is set up to loop, should be a flag or something.

If you want alternating sounds you will need a multi_manager. Tuts are your friend.

Also, the sounds can't loop without cue points. Depending on what WAV you're using, it may not have any (the WAVs for the weapons likely won't, but the gunfire sounds in the "ambience" folder should.)

If the sound doesn't loop, use a trigger_relay targeting another trigger_relay and the sound and use Windows Sound Recorder to find out EXACTLY how long it is. Set a delay the exact length of the WAV on the second trigger_relay to target the first trigger_relay and so they trigger back and forth. And use a trigger_auto on the first trigger_relay and if I have to write trigger_relay one more time I will break my keyboard!!!

just open the file in goldwave and chuck a cuepoint at the end, then check the 'looped' flag.

Add the cue point at the start of the file. Placing the cue point at the end crashed HL.

Do what Penguin said, but hl_hotdog's version is okay if you don't want to have an unnecessary WAV in the download that's already included with the game.

Download goldwave, find a serial number for it :P (easy), open up your sound and add some cue points. I know you only have to put one cue pint but I like to out two just incase. One at the beggining and one at the end. It has never crashed half-life for me.
