First. Its Half-Life 2, not healf-life:2.
Second. Don't ask for warez here.
Third. There is no non Steam HL2.
Fourth. Return to the store and ask for a woking copy of HL2. It is obviously the stores responsibility.

I believe there're some cracked (Emporio, perhaps?) HL2 versions floating around, as well as CS: Source.

Ghetto, learn how to use the internets or take it back to where you bought it.

Yes, there is. And a quick visit to Digital Zone's forums will prove Hunter wrong. Also, there is a non-steam (cracked) server network, that allows you to play CS, CS:S, DOD, DOD:S, HL2 DM, HLDM among other games online with other non steam gamers.

But we all know. If you play non-Steam Healf-Life 2, you're gay. Anyway why buy a new one you dumbo? Just complain to whoever you bought it from...If you bought it from some random guy then you're a bigger fool than I imagined.

Because people like you can't even spell the most used word on this forum correctly.

I played Emporio's cracked non-steam CS:S before Half-Life 2 was released, but that was the only time. It's just not worth the hassle to warez steam games.

I'm a bit curious as to where you bought the game?

There isn't an official and legal non-Steam Half-Life 2. So you're still wrong.

Sounds like Ghetto to me. :

Discussion about illegal warez, etc. are not permitted in the forums.

Also, I would like to point out the hilarity of the following sentence:
i feel so damn :@
That is all.

There is probably a non-steam version of everything that is not on Steam. Though chances are if it's made by Valve and it's a Source game, it isn't legal.

Why is the key in use? I have a feeling ye be lying to me. But if not, did you buy a used copy? If so, too bad. People who try to sell used copies are retarded. If things are legitimate (new copy, actually have a copy), which I doubt, check with the technical support guys.

It's hard to get any more obvious than that.
People who try to sell used copies are retarded.
The people who buy them are more retarded.

Unfortunately, the only way Ghetto ISN'T lying or stupid is if someone somehow managed to guess CD-Key that just HAPPENED to be the one Ghetto has now. And the odds are... slim to none... tough luck Ghetto. I don't believe you, and as for your "problem", go buy a LEGIT copy from the STORE (please use Walmart or Best Buy or something, not "Dirty Joe's Underground Game Locker of Used Illegal Games") and install... OR! Open that little program called Steam, break out your Credit Card (you know, that thin piece of plastic with the big number on it) and PURCHASE a copy of Half-Life 2 over Steam... and enjoy it...

If I had a nickel for every.... -.-

in this case steam is more reliable than retail, because people sneak into stores and copy down the key and register them on steam, or buy it and get a refund from idiot clerks who dont know what steam is.

Let me reiterate: Discussion about illegal warez, etc. are not permitted in the forums.

Srry is right, buy it off Steam, if you can afford it, if not, try a different store.
