If those specs are correct, i'm in the comfortable zone.

Dell Inspiron 1520 with Vista Home Premium
Core 2 Duo T7300 (2GHz)
2GB DDR2-667
Geforce 8600M GT
160GB SATA 7200RPM
Integrated Sound

All for $1200, including shipping and taxes looooooooool. The next gen of DX10 games probaly won't run as well :zonked: In fact, i'll probaly have to use medium settings if I was playable fps in DX10 mode.

I can get away with medium :P

I could just by the hair of my head get away with minimum.... slightly faster cpu, same ram, ati x700 (which is dx9).... and obviously hd space... but... thats alot of hd space huh?

I should be able to run that easily. :)

Not that I will run it anytime soon. I still haven't even gotten around to playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. :(

@Tetsu0: Those laptops get outdated fast! They're usually not fast enough to start with!

@Davespamnumbers: Too bad the 8600M GT is woefully underpowerd. Damn NVIDIA.

I got an ATI all-in-wonder 9800 graphics card. I'm a complete scrub when it comes to that kinda hardware. Would it be enough?
Posted 16 years ago2007-07-10 09:57:20 UTC Post #228216
Unless it's as badly optimized as FEAR or has a crappy engine, I'm sure my 5 year old computer won't have any problems with it, even with a 256 Radeon 9600XT. Why, you might ask? I can't run anything on more than 1024x768, and I can live without FSAA or AA. System requirements are sometimes a secret pact between game makers and 3D card manufacturers to get the market moving.

I am buying it for 360, don't have to worry about this.

Dell Xps M1210
Decent little lappy. just got it for school.
Once i start classes again, i'm going to save up for a desktop and make that my primary gamer.

My specs right now are:
NVIDIA Geforce Go 7400
2gig ram
2ghz Dual core centrino
only 7.65 gig left on this 60gig HD BUT that'll be forced to change soon

I don't get how people fill up their hard drives. I've got a 120GB in my desktop which has 111GB of actual space. It's 50% full. 20GB of Steam games, 5GB of photos (5000 .JPGs), 5GB of music/ 2 rips of DVD to iPod video format, 5GB documents, and 12GB in system restores. The other 10 or so GB must be programs/ Windows system files.

EDIT: Tetsu0 bought a 60GB drive. Aha no wonder he's running out of space.
Posted 16 years ago2007-07-10 13:14:52 UTC Post #228243
On my old computer I had something like 10GB of music, 8GB of photos, 20GB or so steam games, 33 GB of other programs (Freeware games, tools, ect.), and probably about 5GB of random crap I didn't need, or didn't know about. Though I did have that computer FAR too long.

I should be able to run it too.

8 GB isn't really all that much saw1833. Steam takes up about 6.5GB (at least it does for me) and Command and Conquer: First Decade takes up nearly 11GB (granted it's like 12 different games but Add/Remove Programs sees it as one).

My computer from 1999 has a 10GB drive. Each of these games are massive for no reason. UT2004 was around 7GB, but it had shitloads of content. I guess there's no reason to save space when gamers are expected to have a 500GB drive :
Posted 16 years ago2007-07-10 15:51:06 UTC Post #228284
I rember having to free up a load of space on my HDD in 1998 to install Half-Life. (450mb)

I also remember thinking how awesome it looked (640 x 480 in Software mode.)

8 GB isn't really all that much saw1833.
It is for me. Only a 152 GB hdd. And I only have 58.6 GB left. It's only been a few months... >.<
Posted 16 years ago2007-07-10 20:09:32 UTC Post #228293
i have 340GB free space ^___^

To Saw1833:

I have a 120GB drive and it's plenty of space. I also have a 250GB external drive where I backup my system and download HD videos.

The new baseline in HD size seems to be 250GB, but it's on the small size for most people. How much porn are you guys downloading?!
Posted 16 years ago2007-07-10 21:09:20 UTC Post #228304
2x 250GB drives for meeee.

One is half-full of proggies and the other is half-full of media (porn is not a major contributor.. but it is there). ;)

I should be able to play it. Granted I won't max it out or even get near maxing it out, but I don't care as long as it's playable :)

AMD Athlon 64-x2 5000+ (Dual-core @ 2.6ghz)
Ati Radeon 1650XT <--- What's holding me back I guess
2gb Corsair memory
Soundblaster Audigy
250gb SATA, 7200RPM

My PC will run it, but I will upgrade anyway. This game is number one on my "excited about" list. I want to see it in all it's glory.

Second only to Crysis on my list. :badass:

I've got an AMD 4200 X2, which is dual-core, I don't need an Intel, do I? =/

Other than that, I should be able to run it quite comfortably, I meet all the recommended requirements, save for a 512mb video card, but a 256mb 7900GT should hold up just fine.
