Hi everyone. I'm going to release in the next few days a new map.

I think it's going to be my first very realistic map.I'm working on it for 3 weeks now.....(1 to 6 hour........it took me a lot to think about how to create it ! )

It wont copy the realism very much because the is a func_teleport in there , and a kind of car , but you know ....just a metal thing with some lights to copy the car .....:))

But it's a bomb plant/defusion map. Wait...you saw the "fy" huh ? Well that's because at first, I only wanted to be a speed frag.Then i thought it will be nice to make a big release ( yeah....and take alll that criticism from all of you :P)

It has areas with a lot of detail , and areas with some lack of detail :( .

Yeah .....twhlers ...prepare yourself....nha just kidding :))
No screenshots ! Why ? I will destroy my surprise then......love ya

I meant that it is realistic but.....how can i explain ....... you know .....the level of detail.That is what I want to say , it has a lot of detail but that teleport and a stupid car destroys somehow the realism(well , not "destroy", but , i have a bad english yet)

3 weeks spent.

MuzzleFlash go to bed . Cstrike is the most played game , although it's engine is old.I don't see as many servers for half-life , dod ,tfc etc. as for cstrike.And that's why there are a lot of more maps for cstrike .
Believe me I like Half-life and I want to make a map someday .But I didn't played yet half-life 1 , only HL2 :D .

Cstrike is the most played game
Which unfortunately it makes our maps be much less likely to be played as other players have quite a few maps to choose from instead of ours.

oh , man what's the matter with you people ?
I like custom maps and already hate de_dust , fy_snow and other maps that are played a thousand times on a server. Instead i search for good maps from

This site and play them . Because custom maps are better.
hmmmmm....daubster i don't really know what you mean (because i didn't learn the vulgar language at school , but maybe I don't have time or money to buy half-life1 anymore.........

Anyway , why are you reacting with fury ? Did I do something wrong ? I killed somebody ?

I thought that on this site I will find civilized people . Maybe I was wrong ?

Enough with this stupid thing. All I an wait is that on my favourite site the people will have an exemplary behaviour. That's all.

Dude, don't take it that seriously.

Just don't expect people to support you on this project when the only information given is about a teleporter and a car. Fine, if you don't want to spoil it by posting screenshots, don't make a forum thread, since having that little info about a map isn't enough for anyone to get the slightest idea on how your map will look/play. Of course, since everyone is judging it by your description, which often denies it's own statements and is full of spelling/grammar mistakes, you shouldn't be surprised most of us think the map's gonna end up being crap.

Just post stuff like that in your journal next time to avoid useless comments and leave making threads to when you've got at least some media to show.

A story? In a cs map?

If you mean a back story, like why the T's are wherever they are and what they are doing, and hence why the CT's are trying to stop them, then you should already have that!

Come up with that little bit of a story when you're coming up with the theme, don't just throw it in at the end!

This is a counter-terrorists spawn zone . It's actualy a chamber with a trap that can be easily discovered (without that trap you can get in the dome to stop the terrorists , that's the only way.) .It's only a button in front of you (the image)

I have to tell you a detail . The CTs are separated in two teams . One team is in the chamber , the other starts at the entrance of the tunnel that goes to the dome .

The Ts are also in two teams , but they are very approached each other.The T's will have to choose between 2 ways to go out and there will be 3 bomb sites .2 On the tunnel , 1 in the dome . The timing isn't that perfect , put there are 2 well established chokepoints . The T's have an alternate route to head for the 2nd bomb site in an air vent .But they still are exposed to the tunnel. A second alternate route is an elevator . Also they can see the Cts thru the floor , but the Cts can't .

Well that's only some detail , the map should be finished by sunday this week .

Um.
Texturing needs some work.
The wall texture is aligned to the center of the wall.
The radioactive and lambda textures, are bass-ackwards (align to face)
That button doesn't strike me as a button.

Good use of decals with the vent, And the inset lighting is Decent.

Overall. It's Okay, BUT, With better texturing, and some more detail it could be great!

Oh....Don't look at that vehicle.It won't be there anymore . I thought that will be a negative thing on the map and the overall rating will drop . So I'm gonna delete it (deleting it will make the timing more perfect ! )

I forgot to pots something else .

Bomb Spots : The dome with the drug crates , a research lab , and maintenance area (or "command center" )

The research lab is something like in de_dust - It's On ct territory .

Make them boards a bit more askew and not so straight, when boarding up a place you dont really take the time to make it 100% straight and perfect...

Looks okay from what I can see so far, which honestly isn't much. That concrete trim thing is a little strange if you ask me, and your ceiling texture sucks...I mean, it's a wall texture.

I can't really judge whether the area is too boxy though. I just can't see enough to determine that. The boards certainly need to be rotated or skewed, though.

Keep in mind I can't see the first image you posted. I have a few problems with viewing Imageshack stuff.

I use the textures from halflife.wad , cs_havana.wad , cs_assault.wad , decals.wad , and my own wad .

The ceiling textures sucks , I agree :

The stupid car was removed , boxy ? well , there will be some boxy areas . But if you don't like it tell the guys who build your appartement/house to stop making box rooms !

Sorry , I know , box maps are crap , but it isn't boxy .

[EDIT] Btw , I'm now working on detail , I'm building some realistic fans and maybe some env_beams . You should expect some surprises.

I won't use HINT and skip textures , sorry(this means a lot lot lot lot more work to do , and I don't have time) , in some areas the wpoly counts 2000 or so .
I tried to compile with a leak , because I know leaks produce high r_speeds=>lag. I have a powerful computer , but the map was a mess without VIS .
Hopefully VIS exists , because lighting makes the maps .

I decided that in this weekend the map will be released , sorry for waiting , but I had some problems , I had some leaks and bad surface extents that I had to repair them . Now it's all fine , I'm just adjusting the map , that's all.

I can't wait to present it to you guys .

yeah....the map will surely released this weekend .
That texture sucked, and I applied that from mistake :D (i was building something with that texture).Instead of that texture there is a metal one , covering all the ceiling from that tunnel .

Oh ...here's a pic on how a gate (from a small hall ) looks :D (it's not full bright , it's from hammer )

I see dead people a boring mirrored floor, a barrel texture on the walls and blocky architecture.

Ugh.

Try to use archs, wedges, angled walls and stuff like that.
If you play my Uplink Extended, you'll notice a lot of curvy brushwork. See if you can learn from it.

uhmm.....you know muzzleflash, only that you learnt all the halflife.wad in your mind , that doesn't mean that's a barrel texture . It seems more like rusty metal , if someone told you that's for a barrel , that doesn't mean it's only and only for the barrel.
That's not a mirrored floor .

It's a Cstrike map , not Sp map . Maybe I'll do some for sven-cop someday , I like that mod , but until then I'm working to improve my skills .

You know , overall , my map has a good arhitecture . That's my skill. These skills will be improved , but I have to release the map , for god sake , I can't work on it forever !

I can build an extremely sofisticated room , working at 1 snap on grid , but I can't do that on such a big map ! it'll take me months to achieve something like that .

Did you played de_dust2 ?

C Striker, It's good that you're learning to implement the hl.wad textures in different ways. That's very hard to do sometimes and you can get some great looks from it all. But that barrel texture is only supposed to be 64 units high. Half the height of a normal wall. In my opinion, the texture looks horribly stretched.

And the floor doesn't quite seem to fit the 'rust' theme you have going.

yeah. heres one.

z is up and down, x and y are side to side and front back.

if you put your mouse on a point in the map, it tells you the coordinates it's at.

You might be having multiple leaks if LeakMarker doesn't work properly. As for the barrel texture used in the sewers - there's a decent variety of higher-resolution rusty metal textures. Just search halflife.wad for "babtech" or "silo" textures. You'll be sure to find a more decent texture still fitting your theme.

Or you can do it the old-fashioned way and just compile the map with "+particles 50000"
then when you're in game, type in the console "pointfile"
and you can follow a little stream of zig-zagging greyscale dots that should lead you from the problem entity to where the light is escaping.

Check to make sure that the walls sealing the map from the void are world brushes. (As opposed to entities)

I was asking about coordinates tutorial , because I can't do with the pointfile , it says it can't opent the pts but I need lin and I copied them both in the maps folder . soryy it's late I'm writing as fast as possible

you have to check the pointfile while in game man.

And for coordinates, they go (X,Y,Z)

So in the top view, you see x, (left and right) and y (up and down)

So if you see... (9878, 9872,-14), and you're looking in the top view, it's 9878 units to the right (x), 9872 units up (y) and 14 units straight down (z)
