If I had to choose one of the American car/truck companies it would have to be Ford. Sure, the mustang can't hold it's own against the viper or 'vette, but their trucks win.

Corners? We don't have any God damn corners in America!

Viper Truck (Ram SRT-10) is also win.

Also, Henry Ford was a Nazi. True story.

I have no problem with Chevy's if they're old and fast, but anything else they make basically turns me off. Of course, anything that isn't fast turns me off anyway.

BTW seagreen is obviously working for Dodge in an effort to appeal to the mapping crowd using viral marketing, BAN BAN BAN.

I dislike American Muscle, mainly because of their great lack of efficiency. (Due to lack of electronics and ECU's, etc). They had a race between a modified Ford Mustang with 7.5l engine, and a Jaguar E-type with a 3.5l engine. The Jag SMOKED the Mustang, because of its high power efficiency.
Also, because of the Mustangs backward engineering, when it did a corner it skidded right off and totaled into the side. The Jag cut the corner perfectly.
And I just never liked the styling of American Muscle, I always though it looked very primitive and clunky. I prefer European and Asian cars.

Athlete there was no 3.5l Jaguar E-Type. Some had a nice V12 though. LRN2AUTO.

Also, I'd like to see the video or article or whatever it was where this race was documented, because if it was Top Gear I wouldn't trust it for shit. A 3.8l six cylinder engine from that era, European or not, is not going to be so incredibly well engineered that it could overtake a 7.5l Cobra Jet V8 in a straight (or even relatively straight) line. It's totally feasible nowadays, but back then they just hadn't come that far in automotive engineering. The only 7.5l engine Ford had was producing roughly 450 HP, and not even the Jaguar V12 came close to that. The Jaguars from that era were carbureted too, so I don't know what that whole efficiency thing was about...

I love american muscle cars. They're all about pure power, not like the european and japanese fullofelectricgadgedts-cars. And that sound...V8 rocks. Too bad I'll never have a car like that.

Whats the point of so much raw power when the speed limit hardly lets you exceed even one tenth of it? And dont suggest breaking the limit, because my brother does that, and has paid THOUSANDS in speeding fines, had his car impounded, and spent a few nights in prison.
And as for "electronic gadgets", it's those electronics that practically double the power output of an engine. On the old mustangs, a huge amount of that power was lost.
Posted 16 years ago2007-12-16 05:34:49 UTC Post #241167
Hahahahahahahah... wow... "double the power output"...

Not only are we talking about frivolous things like GPS and seat warmers when we said electronic gadgets, but your point about EFI doubling the output of engines is just way off mark. I mean, we obviously wouldn't be where we are today in terms of efficiency and reliability if we still used carbureted engines, but you know what'll happen if you hook up an oldish Chevy engine with electronic fuel injection? Well, not much, actually. It produces around the same horsepower and torque as the carbureted one will. Slightly more in some cases, but not much. It's engineering that does it, not strapping a bunch of computers onto the engine. And as I said before, that Jaguar the Mustang went against was carbureted anyway, so your point is moot.

I'm just gonna keep this up because I like arguing about cars.

I got 1 dodge viper vs ford gt they both have 500 hp but i think it would be the ford.
Posted 16 years ago2007-12-17 00:51:37 UTC Post #241287
The only advantage of Fuel injected versus Carburetor is a cold start, and it's harder to run an electronic System thru a carb.

And for the viper vs the ford.
Viper has ford for straights, but sucks on cornering. So it depends if you're doing a drag or a street course.
Then you have to factor in gear ratios for drags, or suspension/ chamber angle for street courses.

No... no that's not the only advantage. It's a far more precise fuel delivery system than a carburetor, meaning the engine runs more efficiently, more reliably, has far better throttle response, and can reach its full potential with the correct air-fuel ratio. It can also be quickly tuned and adjusted with a laptop. But that's not to say it would double the power of any car.

Also, American cars simply can't turn well, period. Even I admit that. All our sports cars use dated suspension systems, and have trouble maneuvering.
Posted 16 years ago2007-12-17 05:31:56 UTC Post #241317
EFI has nothing to do with engine power; it's, as mentioned, just a better way of delivering fuel to the engine. It's also better for vehicles in places like Colorado that are always freezing as balls during the winter, like right now.
