Subject pretty much describes my question......in the 'Move Sound' options for func_door there is squeeky 1, 2, etc.....I typed in ambience/stdoor.wav, because that was the most logical way to do it....but it doesnt work. I know for a fact the wav is valid because I have made it work, just not as the door move sound. If I set the doors target as 'stdoor' (the wavs name in hammer) it plays....but only once....I want it for the opening and closing of the door.

BTW, ST stands for Star Trek :-) It is the sound of those power hydraulic fast doors, lol

Oh! Do I need to have an ambient_generic entity in the map with this wav attached w/ it? I wouldnt think so, but just wondering, because I do...does hat mess it up?

If you want it when it closes, you'll have to replace one of the original door-moving sounds I think. You can't tell HL to use a particular sound, only pick one from its hard-coded list.

Thank you, seventh. I have found that across all of the forums, you are the most helpful person when it comes to peoples HL mapping questions, and I just wanted to drop a note to tell you on behalf of all the people you have helped or at least attempted to help with their Hammer/Worldcraft/compiling tools, "thanks!" :-)

so if i want to change the voices of barney what supose i can do?

Well, as far as my trial-and-error understanding of HL goes, it'll look for files in these places, in this order, top things first:

valvesound
pak9.paksound
pak8.paksound
pak7.paksound
pak6.paksound
pak5.paksound
pak4.paksound
pak3.paksound
pak2.paksound
pak1.paksound
pak0.paksound

Therefore if you put sounds in valvesoundbarney, with the same names as the original sounds, they'll be used instead of the sounds in, say, pak0.pak, and if you make a pak9.pak, it'll overrule pak8 and downwards.

The sound formats need to be as the original, 11,025kHz, 8-bit PCM, Mono.
