I know, this is a real noobish question, but since I JUST realized I had ZHLT 1.6 :death:, I downloaded the final version recently, 3.4 or something.

I understand what all the textures do except for one- what does bevel do? I've got no idea.

Thanks in advance.

This texture acts like a NULL texture but also doesn't expand when generating clip hulls. It can be used to eliminate exterior corner clipping bugs without using "-cliptype precise" (although "-cliptype precise" is still the recommended method for removing clipping errors, as this feature is experimental).

redka got it.

It's quite useful for preventing unwanted clipping on terrain. When you make VM terrain, the player can often get stuck or caught up on expanded clip hulls. Eliminate this by texturing all of the hidden faces of the terrain with bevel.

BEVEL's amazing help when you're running high on clipnodes/leaves. (common in most maps with more terrain).

Actually, I think it's a pretty suitable replacement for the NULL texture in most cases.

Holy crap, I updated my zhlt wad, and there it is, bevel. So what you're telling me, its exactly the same as null, but you can walk through it?

Apparently, yes.

Well, unless if it creates leaks or some error when you apply this texture to one of the outermost layers of a map (hull), I don't see the point in null anymore.

It doesn't, that's the beauty of it. I'm using it instead of null in some of my upcoming maps, no problems encountered yet.

Hmmm, I think I might use bevel instead of null from now on :)

Let us know if there's any problems with it, too. :>
