How well do you know your history?

I'll ask the first question...

What was the very first game development?

R1Co answered it promptly. It's pretty hard to tell though, since scientists at computer development centers in the military were developing small games on oscillioscopes and whatnot long before the 70's.

Besides, Pong wasn't the first electronic game, it was the first home video console. There were arcades and shit before it.

R1Co answered it promptly. ... Pong wasn't the first
Isn't that contradictory?

According to Wikipedia Galaxy Game was the first arcade game in 1971.

True that.. sorry rim.

OK, I'll answer my own question then you guys will have to answer Rimrooks.

Who started the gaming industry?

It was Sega. In 1951 Service Games made an arcade style game which took coins for the service men on a militay base. I think it was 1964 when a company bought them out and called themselves Sega (Sega being from the first two letters of the original company 'Service Games)Enterprises. The first console game was not the atari series, it was actually named 'the brown box' made by Ralph Baer.

Ok now Rimrooks question.

When were the first polygons used and in what game?

I'll take a guess: was it for the Super Nintendo platform? Perhaps Starfox?

F29 Retaliator already used polygons, and that was back in 1991. I'm guessing...Blockout from the year 1989? (Although I'm not sure if those are REALLY polygons : )

I think that's the first time i've seen polygons. I can't recall the real name of the game because i was so young when i was playing it, i just called it : Tanks

EDIT --

upon further research i stumbled on this site http://www.mrvideogames.net/historyofarcade-01.shtml

half way down it talks about battlezone, the game i was talking about.
So that's my guess.
