Pretty nifty design. I'm no artist but maybe the lambda sign in the middle of the "forehead" of the image or something? Tribal-ized of course.

as long as it aint a tramp stamp i wont disapprove. a crowbar would represent half life pretty well but it'll also look very weird. People will think you're into burglarizing stores at night or something. The Lambda symbol is a good choice though, even better is you find a harmonious way to incorporate it

The choice is obvious to me. A Headcrab. facing the same direction as the head (that is supposed to be a head, right?), have its fangs extend downward onto the forehead area, and then the legs could wrap around the sides of it. I think it could look really good if the Headcrab was highly stylized to fit in with the rest of the design.
Here's a shitty little thing I made in Paint to show what I mean:
If you could just smooth out the edges of that and let the lines flow a bit more with the outline of the head, I think it'd look pretty good.
I have to say though, that head doesn't exactly lend itself to the theme of the game.

That actually looks pretty good. How would it look if the lambda symbol was moved upward a slight bit, beyond the point where the lines intersected? Then it would have a sort of half circle around it.

right on guys... The headcrab idea is very good.. I'll try combining them all...getting it tomorrow, so I need this done..one thing though, it will be high up on my neck... with the top of the skull going almost over my shoulder blades..

No what you have to do.. is find something in half life that can be made tribal but muse have a certain meaning to it. I'll draw something up because i designed my bands logo:

But how big is it going to be? because after time tattoos fade (about 10 years or so) and too much detail bleeds into itself at points.
My guess is that the upper points are going to be at the hairline, and the lower is going to be just above the shoulder-blades? Am i correct?

Well like i said i was throwing around the idea of a headcrab. Trying to make one tribal, and fit the styling is tough. So i have 2 ideas here (almost the same thing but kinda not) Done first on a peice of paper, and then in paint (yes, mspaint again)
and
Had to re-scale it a bit beacuse the pixels were way too small.
